Stayed here for one night while on business. The hotel is located next to the Zoo and is very easy to find on the main A8 road into Edinburg from the M8 motorway.

It initially looks like there would not be much parking, but there is a huge car park behind the hotel. Perfect after a long drive.

The lobby is large and spacious and very welcoming. I arrived in the early evening, when receptions are usually busy, but there were plenty of staff and I was checked in rapidly.

My room was on the 4th floor (3 lifts). The room was large and spacious with a seating area and a large desk and an old style TV. The bed was a huge American type. The bathroom was large and bright with a bath and shower.

I ate out with customers in Edinburgh centre, which is only 5 min by taxi. Edinburgh is one of the best cities to eat out in. There is a huge selection. We ate at an authentic Naples place in the Haymarket district.

The bed was comfy and the room was quiet, with a good and quiet air conditioning.

The breakfast was verry varied, thought he cooked food was a bit cold and uncared for. Fruit, cereals and juices were fine. Pity that they charge £13.95 on top of the room rate.

I did not use the leisure facilities, but they looked very good, thought busy with 1/2 term families.

Check out was fast and efficient.

Overall a reasonable hotel, typical of the Holiday Inn group. You pay more than the lodge type place, but you get a lot more.

This hotel is directly next to Edinburgh Zoo. We turned up at the door and booked a room for one night. The room was excellent value for money, clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is ample free parking at the hotel and regular buses to and from the city centre, which is only ten minutes away. An adult day ticket for the Lothian Bus Service was only £2.50
The hotel serve meals but we wanted to dine out. The receptionist booked a table for us at an Italian restaurant in Edinburgh. It was called 'Bar Roma' and the meal and service was first-class.
The following morning we had breakfast in the hotel . It was buffet style and included everything you might want to eat. A very good selection.
I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting Edinburgh.

Come on reviewers, this isn't a classy B & B or elegant hotel--it's a Holiday Inn near an airport. Be fair, it's for people traveling, an in-between place to stay. With that in mind, I thought it was great, just what I needed the night before returning to the States. My sister and I enjoyed the free newspaper, felt safe in our twin room, the windows and curtains blocked out noise, and the food was surprisingly very good. The price was low compared to other hotels near by and the value high. What more do you want? I would especially recommend the Sampans Oriental Restaurant, excellent food! The staff was helpful and a taxi costs 10 pounds to the airport. I would certainly stay here again.

This hotel is fine for business people passing through or visitors to the zoo, but otherwise relies on the fact the buses to the airport (fifteen minutes) and city centre (ten minutes) are regular. There were a few subtle hints that this suits families (the facilites) but it really isn't that much more or less than a standard Holiday Inn with a couple of tweaks to supposedly balance the slightly higher than usual prices - in a city with a range of cheap accomodation and costly luxury boutique hotels.

So it suits some, but not others and there really isn't anything much of interest to be said here. At least it doesn't reek.

  • Liked — The rooms were clean and comfortable, everything being in working order
  • Disliked — It didn't offer anything of interest - and the location requires transport (public or otherwise) to get anywhere worthwhile

Stayed for just one night at the Holiday Inn in Edinburgh as I was on a business trip.

The hotel has its own large car park which is a bonus.

The lobby area is fairly small, but very tidy and modern with large plants dotted about the place. Check in was uncomplicated and the male receptionist was friendly and professional.

The hotel has a number of floors and my room was positioned high up. My bedroom was clean, tidy and functional. The decor was modern and bright. The large windows in the room provided a brilliant view over Edinburgh.

The hotel is positioned a little way out of the main Edinburgh attractions and the likes of Princes Street and the Royal Mile are not within walking distance. However, directly across the main road is a bus stop with a very regular service which takes you into the centre within ten minutes.

Breakfast was taken in the restaurant. I had no complaints with the breakfast, good choice of items, including eggs cooked to order while you watch the cook at work.

Overall, more than acceptable and I would recommend the hotel if you aren't too bothered about not being right in the heart of Edinburgh.

  • Liked — Fantastic view from the bedroom window
  • Disliked — A little too far out of the city
