“Fabulous collection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

This is a great collection to rival and city even London or Berlin. What I always appreciate about visit this and other UK museums is that it's still free. Good to see they are allowing non flash photography. Free wifi too.

“A quiet getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

We visited the National Gallery after Edinburgh Castle. Not a big fan of art galleries, we decieded to take a look as it was free anyway. All of us were plesantly suprised at how much there was to see. Two floors packed full of paintings, some impressive, some rather less so. The gallery also features artists that even I have heard of, like Van Dyck and Van Gogh. If you are in Edinburgh, I would definately recommend a visit here!

“Double wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

We used Rick Steve's guide to be sure to see some special treasures that we might have missed otherwise. Glad we did: there are so many paintings to see by the world's greatest painters, that we could have spent a week just here. And Free admission!!!

“Just the right size for a taste of art.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

I appreciated the fact that there was not the pressure of spending a whole day here. Nice sampling of a variety of respectable pieces from various time periods. I also loved the bold colored walls and ornate wood work. I almost felt like I was in someone's living room, lacking the cold atmosphere of many art museums.

“Excellent collection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

Great collection now boosted by the arrival of three great Titians. A good place to get away from the crowd and the summer heat. Cafe also very nice.
