“Don't judge a book by its cover, great hotel/pub, location & price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

Stayed at the White Lady during the Hogmaney celebrations. It's located on the main route into Edinburgh, about a 15 minute bus journey to the hotel/pub, and 20 minutes into Edinburgh central (Princes Street). Several bus stops located close by so you won't be stuck for transport. Despite it been located on the high street above a pub the room was well appointed, tasteful & quiet. The bed was especially comfortable. The benefits of been located above the Wetherspoons meant cheap drinks & breakfast were on tap. Coming back from our New Years celebrations we entered our room to a complimentary bottle of Moet champagne (which we were unable to enjoy due to the evening's excess), which ended the trip nicely. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Room Tip: We stayed in a top floor room facing the road but the noise was never a problem.

Arrived and were quickly and efficiently checked in. Our room was on the second floor facing the main road in what looked like the original part of the hotel. Room was nicely decorated with plenty of tea, coffee, water and biscuits. Hairdryer and iron and board in the room. Full sized bathroom all in all spacious. Reception staff were very helpful giving us bus times and information that we requested. As this is a Wetherspoons hotel we ate in the pub restaurant which was very spacious and well set out. All staff were friendly and professional. Location was a good way out of city centre but only a short bus ride away so not a problem. I would definitely stay here again and was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Parking on site was free too which was a bonus. Clean and friendly and would recommend. It was a bit noisy on the night being situated on the main road with all the buses going past but it was extra busy as it was New Years Eve.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room ask for one not facing the main road.

Would like to thank the lovely warm friendly staff for another enjoyable stay at the white lady.
My partner & myself have just spent 2 days at the White Lady Hotel to celebrate New Year Scottish style which was fantastic & strongly recommend everyone should celebrate Hogmanay style at least once. Upon arrival there was a complimentary bottle of Moët chilling on ice for booking a two night stay which was a very nice touch. It's the second time wev stayed at this hotel & wouldn't stay anywhere else, the rooms are well decorated cosy & absolutely spotless, the staff are second to none always polite, friendly & extremely helpfull, the hotel is excellent value for money & it's just a short bus ride into the centre, there's a bus stop outside the hotel and it only costs around £10 to get back after a good night out in the city centre.
We will certainly be returning in July for my birthday & would definatly recommend to everyone x

having stopped a couple ot times at Wetherspoons Shrewsbury we knew Wetherspoons Edinburgh be spot on and we were right!. the room and staff were brilliant. Breakfast is great value as was the free parking. ideal location, 10 minute walk to the zoo and only 25 mins on the bus to Princes Street. wouldnt hesitate to recommend. Mike and Jan.

Stayed here for two nights in December . Good location on route to the airport with good buses to the city centre. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room. However our room was situated at the front and noise from the busy road outside kept us awake all night.Food in Resturant was ok but nothing special but then again this is Weatherspoons so you get what you pay for.

We had a family week-end in Edinburgh to visit the Christmas markets, after flying into Edinburgh airport we caught a local bus to The White Lady on St John's Road, the bus stop being a minute's walk from the front door.

The check-in receptionist was very polite and efficient, finding our three rooms quickly, informing us of their location and that, as an unexpected bonus, breakfast was included in the £79ish room rate.

Our family had a double room, a twin room and a family room. All rooms were spotlessly clean, had quality furnishings and really comfortable beds with extra pillows. The twin and family room had a decent quality sofa-bed as well as the double and twins which was more than adequate for one of the children to sleep on.

We may have been pre-judging Wetherspoons before arriving expecting something towards the lower budget end of the market especially as we paid only £79 per room. The quality was really good and better than budget inn locations such as Travelodge and Premier Inn.

The location is good, the bus from the airport is about 15 minutes and the same again into the centre of Edinburgh, we'd stay here again and 'commute' into the city for the sight seeing as the extra 15 minutes on the bus to this hotel is worth it given the price and the rooms on offer.

Don't worry about it being above a pub, although the bar is open to 1am on a Saturday night we couldn't hear anything from below when in our rooms. Kids had to leave the bar-area at 8pm but I think this is Scottish licensing more than anything else.

Overall we can't fault the Hotel, surprisingly good quality rooms, same Wetherspoons value as their pubs and thoroughly recommended as a base for a week-end sightseeing in Edinburgh.
