So you need a quiet, comfortable, friendly, family run hotel to rest your tired but elated body after experiencing the wonderful and fascinating city of Edinburgh?

You need look no further that "The Lodge" near Murrayfield Stadium - a bonus for any travelling rugby fan too, as it is only 5 minutes walk from the stadium and a short bus ride from the city centre.

Quite affordable for a city centre hotel, very clean and the decor enhances the old building, which was formally a manse for the church next door and staff most helpful - you were not just a room number!

I have no hesitation in reccommending The Lodge.

This is the second time we have stayed here, and will again, when we visit Edinburgh. Friendly folk run the place, the rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfasts are great, and close to the city. What more could you ask for?

The Lodge Hotel was such a lovely place to stay. The rooms were all in suite and newly decorated. The rooms were very spacious and for a great rate. We had traveled across Scotland for 8 days before we ended up back in Edinburgh. I can say that along the way we stayed in some real dumps for a high price so the Lodge Hotel was a true highlight of our trip.

The family room has a big screen TV, cocktails, and snacks. A big plus for me was the fact it has FREE internet access..computer available for guest use. This was great b/c we had been paying for internet access at every other place.

There was private parking for our car so we did not have to worry about moving it or paying the meter every 2 hours...it was the best!

It was within walking distance to Prince street and restraunts. If we didn't feel like walking we could walk across the street and catch the bus. Very accessible!

The hotel manager, Kunal, was absolutely wonderful. I can say that he actually makes the Lodge Hotel experience so great. He is extremely helpful and attentive. He truly caters to the hotel guests...customer service at it's best. Thank you Kunal!

I stayed here in November of 2005 and was happy with the hotel - although in truth it is a B&B. I was here with a friend from New Zealand to watch the Scotland v the All Blacks rugby international and we stayed 1 night .
3 weeks ago I made another booking through the hotel website and phoned to confirm my credit card details. Fine, no problems. Yesterday I got a phone call out of the blue - my reservation was being cancelled because they were only taking bookings for 3 nights for that weekend - another rugby weekend.
Not good enough in my opinion - if you take a booking then you should honour it. Simple as that.
