This hotel is ideally placed for a short (or long) break to Edinburgh. It is on the Airport Shuttle bus route (Number 100) into the centre of Edinburgh with a bus stop right outside the entrance to the Hotel £5 return. It is also on the main bus route served by a choice of three buses into the city centre. Day passes are £2.50 per day.
The hotel was wonderful, rooms were spotless and looked freshly decorated. We were upgraded to a superior room which was more like a suite.
Breakfast was good, we opted for porridge followed by full Scottish with a choice of egg, boiled, poached, fried scambled.
The hotel manager was really friendly and helpful and made us feel really welcome.
This is the best small hotel that we have stayed in. The only criticism if any is that breakfast was a bit on the early side at 8 til 9 am. Would have preferred the time for breakfast to have been 9 til 10 (Particularly on the weekend. But didn't bother us enough to ruin a fantastic weekend.
We ate at the Dunstane restaurant on the other side of the road and the waiter was very friendly and the food good.
All in all we had a lovely weekend (3 nights) but it wasn't long enough. We will be going back and will certainly stay at the Lodge again.
