This hotel is ideally placed for a short (or long) break to Edinburgh. It is on the Airport Shuttle bus route (Number 100) into the centre of Edinburgh with a bus stop right outside the entrance to the Hotel £5 return. It is also on the main bus route served by a choice of three buses into the city centre. Day passes are £2.50 per day.

The hotel was wonderful, rooms were spotless and looked freshly decorated. We were upgraded to a superior room which was more like a suite.

Breakfast was good, we opted for porridge followed by full Scottish with a choice of egg, boiled, poached, fried scambled.

The hotel manager was really friendly and helpful and made us feel really welcome.

This is the best small hotel that we have stayed in. The only criticism if any is that breakfast was a bit on the early side at 8 til 9 am. Would have preferred the time for breakfast to have been 9 til 10 (Particularly on the weekend. But didn't bother us enough to ruin a fantastic weekend.

We ate at the Dunstane restaurant on the other side of the road and the waiter was very friendly and the food good.

All in all we had a lovely weekend (3 nights) but it wasn't long enough. We will be going back and will certainly stay at the Lodge again.

We had not been to Scotland for over 30 years so it was important to us to be near the city centre. I had entered the Edinburgh 10k and wanted somewhere cofortable to stay near the start of the race (near Edinburgh Castle). We trawled the internet and found The Lodge Hotel. It has a really nice and quiet location with a 15 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride to Princes Street. Buses are frequent and the stop is opposite the Hotel. Daisy (The Owner), Claire and the rest of the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The room and facilities were very good. Breakfast was served in a very pleasant room, the food was excellent and plentiful. On our last day Claire allowed us to keep our cases at the hotel until our departure later that evening, which really helped us. Overall good holiday in a lovely small hotel with nice people, central location, will go back. Shirley & Charlie White.

The Lodge hotel is a small but splendid hotel in an excellent position just outside the city centre. A Bus into town is very convenient and means that you do not have to struggle finding parking. The bedroom we stayed in was very comfortable, clean and very well presented. It had obviously been decorated recently as it was indeed prestine.

A hearty scotish breakfast set us up for the day and although the Lodge does not have a restaurant, there's one across the road where the food is good and reasonably priced. The owners of the lodge offered great hospitality and even have an "honesty" bar where you pay for what you drink...a nice treat! Not many people would trust people's honesty these days!

The Lodge is a little gem of a hotel and we would definately stay again. We have been to Edinburgh before and stayed in larger hotels, but we prefer the cosy, more personal hotels where the owners care about their guests and take an interest in their comfort. The Lodge hotel does this and therefore we give them a big thumbs up. Thank You

Booked two rooms for ourselves, my sister-in-law and husband for two nights. Rooms were very clean and well presented with tea/ coffee making facilities, there were also a couple of small bottles of red wine and a couple of glasses. This hotel is well situated for a stroll into Princess Street, it is also quite close to Murrayfield. The breakfasts were very nice and well cooked, with copious amounts of toast and tea/coffee. All in all, a very nice stay in a clean and well run hotel, would definately use it again.

Looking around for relatively inexpensive lodgings near Haymarket, this seemed to fit the bill. I wasn't expecting much for my £55, but was extremely impressed by the standard of the room and the breakfast buffet. The double room was bigger than most, with decent furnishings, a very comfy bed and a slightly larger than usual TV . I never heard any noise at all. The owners were very friendly and helpful and were happy to provide an early breakfast at 07.30 each day. You can walk to Haymarket Station in no more than 10 minutes, with Princes Street a further 10 minutes away, but the frequent buses would be much quicker. I'd definitely be happy to stay here again.
