My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at the Salisbury Hotel. The room was clean, prettily furnished with a comfortable bed, iPod alarm clock and flat screen TV. We had a nice sight on the garden in the backyard and did not hear a single sound from our neighbours. Much choice was offered for breakfast and our favourites were nicely (and freshly) prepared.

On the negative side I want to mention that you automatically wet the bathroom floor while using the shower as there is to barricade to contain the water within the cabin.

All in all we are very satisfied with our stay, though short, and hope to spend another night at the hotel in the near future.

The Salisbury is in a great location. You are close to the Royal Mile by a short bus ride (and there are many buses to choose from), but far enough away to avoid the noise in the evening. There are shops and restaurants close by too.

The front desk closes at 10 p.m. Be sure to have your room key or you will be locked out. Get two keys because you'll need one key to power the electricity in your room.

The front desk manager was excellent. He recommended activities and booked them for us. He also arranged a continental breakfast to be delivered to our room on a day we were leaving very early.

The room was a bit tried. It could have used some paint and new wallpaper. However, it was clean and tidy. The bathroom had clearly been upgraded recently.

The restaurant was hit and miss. My parents had a breakfast on Frinday morning and it was great. Hwever, on Sunday morning it was just terrible. The food was overcooked.

For the front desk service and location, we would recommend the Salisbury.

This is by far one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at. Not only was the room well appointed but we had a great view of a large garden and access to a first class restaurant on site. The restaurant is truly a great dining experience of brilliant scottish food and it does not cost and arm or a leg.

Breakfast was another great culinary experience - how can they improve? I do not know.

Well done to all staff - management you should be very proud.

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. The soft furnishings were lovely and the decor was tasteful and relaxing. The room was huge and there was plently of tea and coffee and more than enough milk, which is something that is always lacking in most hotels. The bathroom was beautifully finished and clean and the bath and shower were both great. Lots of hot water and great pressure. It really felt luxurious and welcoming.
We participated in the Moonwalk and were very kindly given the opportunity to check out late, which was enormously appreciated after 10 hours of walking!
We would definately return to the Salisbury and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Edinburgh.
The staff were also extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating.

The hotel location was conveniently located such that we could keep the car parked (at no extra cost) and walk or easily hail a bus/cab to the Edinborough attractions. The large rooms, beds and WIFI were a treat after having stayed in much smaller accomadations. No phone or clock in the room was a bit awkward, but the caramalized apple pancakes and coffee for breakfast (included in the room rate) made up for it!
