The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. The soft furnishings were lovely and the decor was tasteful and relaxing. The room was huge and there was plently of tea and coffee and more than enough milk, which is something that is always lacking in most hotels. The bathroom was beautifully finished and clean and the bath and shower were both great. Lots of hot water and great pressure. It really felt luxurious and welcoming.
We participated in the Moonwalk and were very kindly given the opportunity to check out late, which was enormously appreciated after 10 hours of walking!
We would definately return to the Salisbury and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Edinburgh.
The staff were also extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating.

The hotel location was conveniently located such that we could keep the car parked (at no extra cost) and walk or easily hail a bus/cab to the Edinborough attractions. The large rooms, beds and WIFI were a treat after having stayed in much smaller accomadations. No phone or clock in the room was a bit awkward, but the caramalized apple pancakes and coffee for breakfast (included in the room rate) made up for it!

  • Liked — large room/ bed, WIFI, updated bathroom, breakfast included
  • Disliked — no phone or clock in room

We arrived on the 19th June 2008 to be told - there was no record of our booking..........not the most inspiring of receptions (telephoned and confirmed with email a week earlier!!??)....that was the low point- but from thereon in -the whole experience and stay at the Salisbury Hotel was 100% positive-Stephen- the highly efficient Front of House Manager- quickly reassurred us a room was available- Excellent Family room - tastefully decorated, with a superior sofa bed for our teenager daughter (no feeble, poor quality camp bed here)spotlessly clean, original working shutters at window overlooking pretty graden (not bad - when only a few minutes walk from Princes Street) bathroom /wetroom superb and certainly comparable to many 5 star hotels we have stayed in.
Quiet room - perfect for a good night's rest.
Breakfast - buffet style and cooked available- was served quickly and efficiently by friendly and courteous staff- Sadly we only stayed for one night -and did not have chance to sample the in house restaurant- but it came highly recommended by two taxi drivers - we encountered whilst in the City.
We would definately use this hotel again and recommend.

We recently spent a total of three nights at the Salisbury Hotel, and would recommend the hotel to anyone.

The staff treated us well, were attentive and responsive to our needs and requests, and were very friendly also.

The rooms exceeded our expectations: the furnishings were up-to-date and elegant. Our overall impression is that they are cleanly and efficient.

The restaurant in the hotel also serves fine meals. The breakfast that comes with the room rates as the best we've ever had in the UK.

The garden deserves much praise, and we wish we had spent more time in them.

Finally, we found the hotel's location to be convenient to central Edinburgh and the areas we were intersted in exploring.
