My wife and I stayed at the Elmview for 10 nights while attending the Open Championship. Robin and Nici were the most wonderful hosts and would bend over backwards to help in any way, from booking taxis to giving tourist information and if they didn't know they would find out for you. The accomodations are first class. They are located in a very quiet but central location, near the U. of Edinburgh so there are a lot of students nearby but it is a very academic atmosphere. There are presently 3 beautifully decorated rooms with modern luxury facilities and lots of little touches that they have added such as sherry, and a refrig. stocked with milk and cold wine glasses. The 3 course gormet breakfast is created and cooked by Nici while Robin is the maitre d'. There are occasionally specials, but our favorite is the scambled eggs with smoked salmon and a potato cake that is Nici's creation. The breakfast is very health conscious and one can also have vegetarian. Robin and Nici live upstairs and are always available if needed. You have your own entrance and can come and go as you like. There are fantastic restaurants all within walking distance or you can go further afield to the old town.
We stay at a lot of B&B's in Canada and this one rates up there with the best.
