Elmview is a wonderful place to stay and we'll never stay anywhere else while in Edinburgh!
From the wonderfully warm greeting, to the spacious bedroom which was so tastefully decorated with so many thoughtfully added touches (sherry, a tray with a rapid water heater for coffee and tea, complimentary shortbread biscuits, butterscotch and nuts, a refrigerator stocked with water, milk and ICE CUBES, a HEATED towel rack in the comfortable and SPOTLESSLY clean bathroom), Elmview is filled with beautiful appointments and wonderful hosts! We were thrilled with our room and with all of the thoughtful amenities provided to assure our comfort.
And, the BREAKFASTS!!!! Oh, those marvelous, freshly prepared and beautifully served BREAKFASTS!! Nici is a FABULOUS cook and breakfast is presented on elegant Portmeirion china along with lovely linens and silver. What a fantastic way to start ANY day!
Nici and Robin are delightful hosts. They are both warm, friendly and very helpful. When we asked for a recommendation regarding a pub with live folk music, Nici immediately phoned the Tourist Office who gave her a list of pubs from which we could choose!! Robin was always extremely patient and helpful with providing us with directions for getting around town.
They provide a printed sheet describing several local restaurants and, in our room, there were numerous travel books about the sights in Edinburgh. Another nice touch is a VCR (in our room) with an interesting selection of movies from which to choose.
Elmview is in a lovely area and, from there, it is only about a 20-25 minute walk to Edinburgh Castle and The Royal Mile. Taxis and buses are easily available, too. Guests have their own personal entrance so one don't feel like an intruder for returning late or for making a little extra noise.
When we return to Edinburgh, you can be sure that we will head straight to Elmview on Glengyle Terrace.
Thanks again, Nici and Robin!
