Robin and Nici are lovely hosts! There were lots of little special items in the room which have obviously been thought of to make a travellers life just that little bit easier i.e sewing kits, sherry and a mini fridge, toiletries, shaving kit, international adaptor, pen and notebook etc. There are even bathrobes!

The rooms are spacious and absolutely spotless.

After suffering in over heated rooms it was a treat to adjust the heating to suit our comfort.

Breakfast was divine and Robin is a gracious and witty host.

We highly recommend this lovely B&B.

REMARKABLE attention to details was my first and now lasting impression of the service provided by Robin & Nici at the Elmview!! It was apparent from our first e-mail contact that the hosts are truly concerned about providing superior service to all guests. After prompt replies to my request for two rooms, I was sent information about special events happening in Edinburgh during our trip. Upon our arrival, Robin warmly greeted us, showed us to our gorgeous, well-appointed, and oversized rooms, explained all the tourist information provided for our stay, and served us a fabulous afternoon tea! Everything one could possibly need was supplied in each room, as well as a laptop for shared use with other guests! Our amazement continued when we "experienced" breakfast, where we ordered from a menu of Scottish specialties, along with a daily creation, cooked to perfection by Nici!!!

The atmosphere of the Elmview is elegant, extremely comfortable and fun. My family truly enjoyed the use of Robin's golf clubs on the Bruntsfield Links across the street. Recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants were readily and graciously provided by Robin, who obviously loves living in Edinburgh. We spent 3 nights and wished we could have lingered longer at the Elmview, as we felt honored to be guests of such hospitable, knowledgeable, considerate, and talented hosts.

Our memories of Edinburgh will first and foremost be of the Elmview, followed by the magnificent city itself. We HIGHLY recommend staying with Robin & Nici, as we will be forever grateful for the memorable Elmview experience!

My friend and I stayed at the Elmview for 2 nights and truly enjoyed our stay. The room was very spacious with very high ceilings and huge windows. The B&B owners were wonderful hosts and provided us with so much great info about Edinburgh including restaurant recommendations and maps upon our arrival! Breakfast was GREAT with a fabulous selection of hot and cold dishes as well as great coffee, tea and juice. The location was perfect for exploring the city on foot and is less than 5 minutes from a bus stop. On the last day we discovered an incredibly friendly cat who lives at the B&B and bid us farewell after a great stay at the Elmview. I would definitely stay at the Elmview again or recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

Next to seeing Edinburgh Castle, staying at Elmview has to be the highlight of one's trip to Scotland (or anywhere else). The warm welcome given by Robin, greeting us by name at the door and offering fresh-baked breads, tea and coffee on our arrival, was a hint at what was to come. Our room, #4 (and subsequently #5 after we returned from a 2-day trip to Inverness) was the height of country elegance: king-sized bed, chandelier, double vanity in the bathroom, terrycloth robes, decanter of sherry, fridge with milk and water, flat-screen tv with DVD player and library of videos outside the door, and a stock of guide books on Scotland and Edinburgh. Breakfast was served in impeccable style on Portmeiron china, with a printed menu and one daily special, prepared by Robin's wife Nici, who really knows how to cook. They even made me vegetarian haggis! Robin's genuine warmth, wit and practical travel suggestions, plus the way he cheerfully introduces the other guests at the table, confirm our impression that this is the most outstanding B&B imaginable. It deserves an extra star rating just for the food. Location is perfectly suited to bus routes, although it's only a 10 minute walk to the castle and elsewhere into the Old Town. Local restaurants abound, with The Apartment and Bombay Bicycle Club among our favorites. Robin loans his Compaq computer to guests; he even helped us call our distraught daughter at college in Boston on his phone without charge. We would plan our next trip to Scotland around availability at Elmview and recommend it without hesitation. It is truly a magical experience. The price is right for such excellent service.
