We enjoyed four days at Elmview in a pretty, comfortable room full of nice little extras: bottled water, tea and coffee, milk for our tea, caramels, guide books, and even some sherry! The list goes on and on. What an amazing little gem this is. Our hosts, Nici and Robin, are genuinely interested in helping their guests enjoy Edinburgh.

Breakfast is incredible! We have never stayed at a B&B that offered so many delicious choices. Nici is quite a cook and Robin keeps the breakfast conversation lively.

The residential location across from a nice park is enjoyable, but we found it to be a somewhat longer walk to Old Town than other reviewers. I'd say something like 20 minutes walk to Old Town; a bit more to the Royal Mile and the castle.

Taxi service in Edinburgh is excellent. Service is very fast from GPS-directed cabs. And the drivers are polite and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed Elmview and highly recommend it.

  • Liked — Comfortable room. Delicious breakfast.
  • Disliked — A common sitting area outside the bedroom would be nice (but certainly not essential).

On the advise of Trip Advisor we stayed 3 nights at Elmview. This was the start of our overseas trip and it could not have started at a better place. Robin and Nikki were the prefect hosts, the rooms were great and the breakfasts were fantastic. The location is excellent and within walking distance to Edinburgh Castle and Edinburgh downtown. Once again just a great place to stay

Not to sound sappy but I just want to say a big THANK YOU to the Trip Advisor reviewers who wrote such glowing reviews of the Elmview. This genuinely happy little B&B run so ably by Robin and Nikkie turned out to be perfect lodging choice my wife and me. The Elmview’s location turned out to be quite a blessing. It was close to Prince Street and the Royal Mile while still occupying a pretty location bordering a large park. The golfing portion of the park does enable golfers, and non-golfers, the opportunity to play some links golf, though just chipping and putting, and truthfully relay the story to their friends at home that, Yes, I did play golf while visiting the ancient home of the game. The breakfast menu presented different gourmet choices each morning while still offering excellent choices like scrambled eggs and haggis. While on the subject of eating I must say that we did eat at several of Robin’s recommended nearby restaurants and they were all fantastic. I particularly loved the Indian cuisine an the Bombay Bicycle Club while my wife loved her meal at “The Apartment”.

We found this BnB via the TA and once again the reviews were spot on. We stayed for two nights during the festival and came back for another four in September.
The room was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated without being overstuffed and had all kinds of amenities you can think of and some you would not. Very good quality king size bed and plenty new fluffy towels. Very quiet, it is opposite a big park-golf place and only 10 min. walk from the center .
But what makes this place really unique, is that it would be perfect even without the many small details (from the port wine in the glass decanter to the cosmetics in the bathroom) that are everywhere and give you a warm feeling that you are welcomed and cared for.
There is even golf equipment if you want to try your hand in the park opposite.
The two owners,Nici and Robin, really enjoy their BnB business and this shows. They are two lovely people that will go out of their way to help their guests. Robin has many stories that made breakfast even more deliciously great.
Oh! Did I mention breakfast with all the fresh and mostly organic stuff? We were really spoiled.
Robin asked us if we like our room and if we have any suggestions. I promised I would look hard but even I (a known grumpy Virgo) could find nothing. It was difficult to say goodbye and go and I really hope we can go back very soon.

We are please to stay at the elmview B=B during the festival, our party of four had travels from ipswich in suffolk, and arrived to a very cheerful robin, who showed us our rooms, which were out fo this world, we have traveled to many B=B's and this is top of our list. in scotland. we visted the royal mile three times during our stay and even ventured out during the evening to watch the tattoo. due to heavy rain, taxis were not collecting at 1am in the morning so we walked back and it took, less than 10 minutes from the royal mile....

a huge thank you to robin and nici, for there great b+b and for the great atmosphere at the breakfast table... (ground mint and sugar Pineapple) what a winner!!!!. not to mention the rest of the great breakfast.. we managed to get to newcastle before eating again..

thanks for the stay and memories

  • Liked — freindly atmosphere
