“Christmas Eve Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

What a fab lunch we had at Porto & Fi - the food was delicious as always and the staff friendly and attentive - portions are large - especially for children but we all managed to finish everything - can't wait to return.

“A real find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012 via mobile

Somewhat stumbled across Porto & Fi by accident but its fantastically located on the mound offering super views of princes street and the gardens and the food served is of the highest quality.

My fish pie was faultless and my sons fish and chips both tasty and excellently presented (photo attached).

There is also a fine selection of guest ales available - 8 when we visited.

The food and drink, considering the location, is very reasonably priced. The fish pie was £10.95 and all guest ales were under £4.

Overall, its an excellent bistro in an excellent location offering superb food at value prices.

“OK food, poor service in a rather chilly environment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

First and last visit. Food was relatively OK, but service was poor. the place was half empty, hardly busy, but still the staff were unattentive and slow, not to mention unfriendly! And boy was it freezing! You'll need your warm clothes if you go here!! all in all, quite disappointing.

“Festive and happy atmosphere, food was good but decent service was missing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

I came to Porto and Fi as it was recommended by friends and i have heard a few reviews about this place so we decided to book a table here on a busy winter Saturday night. This place is quite modern, with quirky colors and designs i which i liked. The restaurants sits on top of the mound and there is also a branch in Newhaven. We arrived 15 minutes early and was surprised that our table was ready, restaurant was getting busy but it never bothered us as we felt relaxed in the atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be in the festival and happy mood.

We decided on having only mains and dessert so we ordered the salmon fish pie and a sausage and mash. The pie had nice fish but mash lacked some seasoning, also it was unusually presented on a bowl instead of a flat oven dish. The sausage and mash was a good portion, though i would have preferred a little more mash. Tasty pork sausages, it was nice to have a red wine jus instead of the usual gravy sauce with the dish.

The waitress did forget to come and checked on guest satisfaction, infact we didn't really see her much at all which was a let down. Its always nice for them to make an effort to have some of conversation but there was none of that. When we where ready to order the dessert, we where presented with the menu and a specialty board but it was not explained or pointed out to us the different options. My tummy was too full so i just ordered a hot chocolate, but my other half had a chocolate and beetroot cake, unusual combination.. but he wanted to try something different. Although the cake was delicious, he did not taste any beetroot at all.. if beetroot is mentioned as one of the ingredients then im sure it should taste of it aswell so he was abit disappointed.

Had a good night, food was good but could be better.. service not attentive enough.
