“Great for Studies”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

I use this place for my studies, and you can find everything here. The staff are really helpful and know where everything is. It is worth a look just on its own out of interest.

“Great exhibitions and amazing archive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

If you need to consult any British publication of the last hundred years or so, it will definitely be here. The staff are wonderfully helpful, but be aware that this is a reference facility only - you can't take documents away with you.

“Edinburgh's version of the British Library.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

The library is a beautiful building up behind the Mound. Registration is quick and easy with 2 forms of identification (one must be an address) then you have access to all the books - but only to read in the library. Publishers have to submit copies to all 5 National UK libraries, so you should have access to all books you would find at the British Library in London. Cloakrooms, wifi access and a small tea room mean all requirements are met.

“Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

I didn't use the Library for research today, but I stopped by to look at the shop, the map exhibition and to have a quick coffee. It's so much more welcoming than it was when there were security staff at an imposing desk as you walked in! (I love the research facilities - really value them - but I was in Edinburgh on other business yesterday.)

“Once Registered it's Excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Wonderful place for research but it can take time to get the books you want. Very good for checking out expensive books before you decide to buy them.
