“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

I have waited a long time to go here and i was not dissapointed. The staterooms are stunning and the romms and exhibitions relating to Mary Queen of Scots has been dealt with sensitivly and informative. It did feel a bit touristy when we were buying tickets, and some people will think it expensive, but we enjoyed our visit

“I expected more...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

I was really excited to visit the palace. The staff were very friendly and the audio guide was very informative. Really liked Queen Marys room at the top of a windy staircase - a really sad story told here. The ruins of the abbey also gorgeous. Those are the positives. I just found it very dark. Dark wood, dark tapestries and dark paintings.

“Interesting historic rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

Visited Palace and Queen's Gallery, walked there from St.Giles. Was busy but not overly so. Audio guide to the Palace was excellent, plenty of information which added greatly to the walk round the Palace. Would not recommend the combined ticket for the Queen' Gallery, over- priced and disappointing in my opinion as apart from photographs and a few artifacts there is little to see for the price of the combined ticket. I am an art lover but have never been so underwhelmed by a gallery.

“Blue Blood”

Enjoyable visit. Located at the end of the Royal Mile, good value we bought the combined ticket for the Queens Gallery, I you have you ticket stamped before leaving it becomes an annual pass for further admissions.

“Lovely Palace and great Exhibition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Loved the rooms in the Palace, especially those relating to Mary Queen of Scots. It was interesting to learn how the Palace is used for State occasions.Being elderly I appreciated the good availability of chairs in the rooms so you can sit and listen to the audio without feeling rushed. We also visited the Photograph Exhibition in the Queen's Gallery - it's a part of the world we particularly like so it was interesting to see the old photos especially of Egypt. The Egyptians clothing hasn't changed much in the last 150 yrs and I have nothing but great admiration for the overdressed Britons in that searing heat !! Combined ticket was good value for money if you have an interest in the topic. Not really suitable for children though as I don't feel it would engage their interest.
