Stayed here for 3 nights and had no troubles. The decor is colourful, the location is fantastic and the staff are friendly and helpful. Try the burger place next door, you won't regret it! Would stay here again!

I stayed in this hostel from October the 18th to November the 5th with a friend of mine and we absolutely enjoyed our stay, even though we moved out 4 months ago we still spend a big time of our weeks in there once we made so many friends in this place.
The staff and the manager are all kind and very helpful and always willing to sort every problem that may occur. The building is well decorated with lots of cool paintings all over the walls. They have a bar on the first floor with two pool tables and a home cinema as well,i spent and keep spending so much time in there, The kitchen is another place of gathering, lots of nice dinners are taking place within the week. During weekends there are nice Theme parties like (Tribal,Toga etc) and sometimes they even invite bands to play on Saturdays or special days!
Another thing that is so good about this Hostel is the location,it is next to Princess street and Rose street so you can have access to nice shops, pubs, restaurants or fast foods.Sainsburry and Cooperative(both supermarkets) are very close as well.

Whatever i say about this hostel is too little, its definitely worth trying!!

My friends and I stayed here for 4 nights, and it was the best experience ever. We stayed in an 8 person room and didn't have any problems with the people we stayed with. The bar in the hostel is a great place to hang out, and the sometimes host parties in there. The breakfast is served form 6am till 12noon! Crazy! And they have a lot to choose from. Located very centrally to the city, everything is pretty much in walking distance. Check out time is 12noon as well so you have plenty of time to sleep in, still get breakfast, pack, and shower! HIGHLY recommend this hostel and I will definitely stay here again in the future!

My husband and I had a cozy warm experience at Caledonian hostel, located so close to the main parts of Edinburgh. We even saw the fireworks at the castle from the hostel. There is the bar in the hostel, so you can chill out there, or even choose to lie down on the sofa!!! Breakfast is served from 6am till noon! So long you will not miss a free filtered coffee. The rooms are all different, so hope you are lucky to get the room you like.

I was travelling alone to Edinburgh for a weekend, and I picked this hostel because of the reviews on the booking website. I had a really awesome time there, and if it was possible for me to take leave from work I would have stayed longer!!

The hostel is quite large with lots of rooms, and there is a keycard entry system for the rooms. There is a reasonable sized locker for each room, and you use your own padlock (if you forget, there is a little shop just over the road where you can buy one). The beds were regular bunk beds, comfortable, the linen was clean and smelled really fresh. No individual lights though, so you would need a torch. There were plenty of toilets and showers, and I saw them being cleaned each day I was there - and the showers and hot water was working.

The bar is a pretty large area, drinks aren't too expensive, bar staff are friendly, and it's the best place in the hostel to meet new people. The first night I was there, there was a band playing. They were really good and it was a really fun night - although when I was putting my stuff away I couldn't hear them at all, so if you like things quieter then don't panic!
Breakfast is also available in the bar area - just toast, cereal, hot drinks and juice drink, and you help yourself, but it's all included in the price so I thought it was pretty good.
I found the staff really helpful, and the barman was really good. The hostel is really well decorated - very funky and interesting!

The location is great, really easy to find from the train station and very near to the castle. It has a few convenience shops really nearby, as well as a selection of nice restaurants, a good kebab shop/chippy around the corner, and small supermarkets nearby if you're self catering. (I didn't use the kitchen while I was there, but it looked pretty large and seemed clean enough)
There was loads to do during the day, and it was great to come back to the hostel and chill, chatting to new people in a laid back friendly atmosphere, before heading out for the night with new found friends!

Room Tip: Rooms 1-6 are nearest the bar and internet, Rooms 7-13 are up an extra flight of stairs, but there w...

This place was nice to start. The beds were comfy enough. The showers were hot. The breakfast was awesome with yogurt and fruit and toast and juice and coffee. The essentials really. They also had pretty helpful staff that gave us decent directions.

I was originally meant to stay here for 4 nights, but somehow ended up staying 11 (Edinburgh is awesome).
The place is huge, spacious & clean. The staff are great & so is the manager. I stayed over Christmas and they put on a Xmas feast for all that were staying there, it was fantastic!
I honestly don't have anything bad to say, location, bedding & washrooms were great. The kitchen is huge & the people are generally welcoming.
Definitely stay here!! :)
