We had a lovely room that accommodated our family of five with room to spare. It was a bright, cheery room with flower boxes outside the windows. The rug was a little worm, and the ensuite bathroom was a little tight, but for the price it was to be expected. We were very pleased with the service. The breakfast was the best. There were five choices and when we had special requests within the choices they were accommodated with no problem. (My favorite was the fresh fruit, which was cut up in a bowl with juice and seemed to vary day to day.)
We could walk into New Town or Old Town but with our group ranging from ages 10 to 75 we often opted to ride the bus as it was within a block of the front door. We also opted to take the bus the Leith one day and it went directly from our closest stop.
There is a laundrette close by, which was helpful as we were in our second week of traveling.
(One of my daughters didn't pack a warm enough jacket. There area a number of thrift shops in the next block and we found a good warm coat very cheap. )
