We stayed at these appartments when we took friends as a wedding present to the Scotland - All Blacks World Cup Rugby match. The female side of the party were well chuffed with the result but the male side not being Kiwis were less happy, although we had a great weekend.
Overall I would recommend the Grove St operation if there are a couple of couples in the party as it is far better than staying in a hotel as it is far more sociable.
When we arrived we were told we had been "upgraded" to the newer appartments down the road. Harris I seem to remember was their name. They were so new that building hadn't even finished and not all of them were fit to be occupied.
Still, that didn't bother us as we didn't hear any building work and when the guys turned up on Sunday to work, they waited till a very sociable 9.30 to start and weren't noisy. No doubt they will soon be finished
Plus Points
- Noise - very quiet indeed at night.
- Standard of fittings - good, modern styling and seemed far better than up the road in the original Grove St appartments.
- Parking - free secure, off road parking up at Grove St
Negative Points
- Nice balcony with a stunning view of the Western Approach Road...... ie just above it. It meant that during the day we had to keep the windows shut. To be fair, the windows appear triple glazed so when they are shut it is quiet, but as the appartment is south facing and the sun shines it, it does become quite hot.
For those staying there - i can recommend a restaurant round the corner 5 minutes walk - First Coast on Dalry Road. Off the beaten path so more of an Edinburgh local than a tourist trap. Good and imaginative cooking - well priced.
Would I go back to Grove St - yes if we were in a group.
