Description: Welcome to the Toby Carvery Liberton. When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Edinburgh’s favourite carvery restaurant. Drop by and you'll find lots more on offer, including cooked breakfasts and tasty specials.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Visited on 4th April for my dads 70th birthday. Quite busy but no waiting for your food, perfect amount of meat and amazing vegetables and potatoes. Very friendly chief and the waiter was very nice and pleasant.

“Cheap and cheerful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

First experience of a Toby Carvery was reasonably positive. It is not fine dining, but at these prices (£6 for an all you can fit on the plate main course - and only an extra £1.50 to "go large") it is very good value.

The basic premise, as earlier reviews have indicated, is that there are four joints on offer (beef, pork, turkey ham). These are carved/served, topped off with a yorkshire pudding (or two if you've paid the extra) and you are left to add veg, stuffing etc from a self-service selection. My wife had a turkey and ham combination, which being the standard plate was not overly generous (but still good value). I went for a large turkey and pork plate - which was more than enough - with stuffing, mash, roast potatoes, peas and carrots - and beef gravy (no turkey gravy available).

The food is basic - more cafeteria cooking than restaurant quality. But the prices more than reflect that. The place was packed when we ate there around 6pm on a Saturday. I understand why. There is a market for this type of restaurant. From my pwerspective I needed something to eat. My meal was served quickly and efficiently. It was reasonably tasty - and great value.

“GREAT VALUE....APART FROM ON A SUNDAY !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

This carvery is truly great value during the week with friendly, efficient staff and great roast meat and veggies. However, do not go on a Sunday! The price rises big time, so only good value during the week (Mon - Sat).
