Owner description: Holyrood Park is a unique historic landscape in the heart of the city, whose dramatic crags and hills give Edinburgh its distinctive skyline. Within the park is a wealth of history and archaeology spanning thousands of years. Arthur's Seat is one of four hill forts, dating from around 2,000 years ago. As well as it's rich cultural heritage, the park offers walks, solace, wildlife, volcanic geology and unparalleled vistas of the city from its many vantage points.

“Be in the country whilst in the city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

You have to visit Holyrood Park if you go to Edinburgh, a great expanse of countryside slap bang next to the CBD. Easy access from many entrances, I went via the Scottish parliament site and next to Holyrood Palace. If you feel energetic enough you can climb up to Arthur's Seat (an extinct volcano), the view from the top on a nice day is worth it, but even if you just want to go for a gentle stroll, there's enough space for everybody. Take a picnic, feed the swans, go up to St Anthony's ruins, go for a run/jog, look over the cliffs, don't get too close to the edge though! No matter what you do, go get some good, Scottish fresh air in 'yer and enjoy the rugged countryside that is so accessible.

“Avoid the queues”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

Book in advance to avoid the huge queues that occur most of the day. Good art gallery and very interesting house. It is very popular with coaches so try to go early or late if you can. Expensive but irresistible gift shop too.

“Short walk from city centre and you're in the 'mountainous' countryside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

No trip to Edinburgh is complete without a walk around Holyrood Park. Take to the hills! Good shoes needed although my wife in flip flops made it to St Anthony's Chapel ruins with only one fall! (Hot, dry day mind you)

“A great place to get local”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

We're the locals hang out. There's a reason. Green, lovely, ready for a hike, swan viewing, picnic, game of football, lacrosse, a run....then some ice cream! Done right!
