Description: Located in Edinburgh's Old Town, Biddy's is an Irish pub and restaurant on Grassmarket with a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere. Serving hearty dishes made with locally sourced produce the restaurant prides itself on authentic homemade cuisine as well as their extensive selection of Irish whiskies. Biddy's is open until 1am all week with live music every night and provides plenty of sports coverage, especially for hurling and Gaelic football.Scottish produce, Irish foodBiddy's may be an Irish pub and restaurant but their menu also features items such as grilled nachos with salsa, sour cream and guacamole, sweet potato and mixed bean burger and chilli con carne with boiled rice.Let the restaurant chefs tempt you with the full Irish fry - an all day breakfast consisting of bacon, sausage, a potato farl (tattie scone, to Scots), mushrooms, tomato, white pudding, beans and a fried egg. Alternatively, diners may opt for Biddy's Irish stew (Granny Fallon from County Longford's very own recipe), the mussel pot with caramelised onions, Guinness and parsley or the crispy breaded haddock with chips and peas. Just be sure to leave some room for the Baileys cheesecake for pudding.Old Town accessibility & transport linksBiddy's is on Grassmarket in the Old Town area of Edinburgh and is around fifteen minutes on foot from Waverley train station. A short distance from the Royal Mile and a pay and display parking area, bus stops and taxi ranks are also close to the restaurant.Free wifi access is available every day of the week, ideal if you've got a working lunch or just feel like a nosey on Facebook.

“the Fabulous Noel!! (gay bartender)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

We had the best time ever at Biddy Mulligans. Our very handsome waiter Colm served us up some great food and took the time to give us loads of great tips about Edinburgh. It helped that he was easy on the eye - from very angle. The gay Irish bartender served is loads of what he called 'crack' and by the end of or lunch we were singing Lady Gaga and pinching Colm's bum. We didn't even have room for desserts!

“Bad managment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

When in biddys we received what to the eye could be described as the most delicious fry up ever! However it was not so for my partner who had gained a little surprise in his mushrooms! An earwig!!!! After finding the earwig he continued eating not to turn me off my food! When he told me, i approached 2 members of staff and asked them if they could come and see this! We showed them the bug and they handled the complaint with the utmost concern! One lady took it away to show the manager! Upon her return we received a full refund for the food and drinks we had purchased however no manager presented themselves or an explanation of how this had happened! I explained to the lady serving that this could be a problem with the kitchen as the mushrooms may not come in presliced but i feel this was not a main concern! From working in a fresh food industry myself i understand there may be small quality control slip ups but to have been dealt with as abruptly as we were with not offer of contact or explanation afterwards was wrong! This to me is bad management to shoooo away a customer complaint onto a colleague who is only doing there best to apologise for the issue!

Please let me assure you that your complaint is being treated with the utmost concern and was reported the same day to senior management and the kitchen team . We are currently investigating all quality control and kitchen practices.

Hello Nienke H,

Thank you for taking the time to write us a wee review- we're delighted to hear you enjoyed your meal with us!

Our homemade Irish Stew, Breaded Haddock & Chips and the massively popular Macaroni and Cheese are some of our most popular dishes and we're thrilled to hear you agree!

We can't wait to welcome you back again to try out more of our fantastic food- my personal favourite is the decadent Chocolate Pot (designed for those of us with a sweet tooth) - it's definately not to be missed!!

Best wishes,

Shelly and the Biddy Mulligans Team

Hi there WicklowOptimist,

Thank you for your review!

We are indeed a popular pub, thanks to our great food menu and extensive range of local (and not-so-local!!) drinks.

Our recent refurbishment has given us a much more spacious pub, with lots of comfortable booths for our customers to enjoy their night- and we're always more than happy to book our guests tables in advance to guarantee the best possible craic!!

Thanks again for your feedback,

Best wishes,

Shelly and the Biddys gang
