“Aerie filled with light”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

The pictures captured the beauty of this apartment which overlooks a garden with Calton Hill in the background. We had everything we needed here and more; it was a home away from home. We were close to many sights and found that the bus stopped on the street outside the apartment. We even took the bus on our return trip to the airport with no hassle at all. Edinburgh is a welcoming town with tons to offer any visitor. It made us want to return and discover more. The Botanical Garden, Edinburgh Castle, Arthur's Seat, and a crazy Scottish Fusion band called the Spinning Blowfish were some of the highlights. Thanks Mary for such a warm welcome and a cozy place to perch.

Liked best: The wonderful light which streamed into the apartment and the many extra touches such as clothes washer, iron and a well equipped kitchen.
Liked least: Nothing at all!

“Wonderful apt in beautiful Edinburgh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Just spent 3 lovely nights in this apartment.
Everything was simply perfect...Mary has thought of everything and is so very welcoming and thoughtful.
The location on Canongate could not have been more convenient...we were able to park our car close by and free of charge.
My only regret is that we could not stay longer.
Highly recommend this apt.

“Riveting Royal Mile Flat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

If Location, views, and a feeling of home are what you want on vacation, Mary's apartment is the place to stay! Edinburgh is my favorite city in the world and this apartment delivers everything I wanted being on the Royal Mile. Canongate Kirkyard below and the views of the city are just the tip of the iceberg. The garden, shops, museums, and pubs close by also add to the value of Mary's apartment. We enjoyed having the bus stop right out front so we could gallivant around the city. The three flights of stairs with heavy luggage is not ideal, but if you only have to do it once it is menial compared to the lovely stay. The wifi worked great, the apartment was spotless, and the beds were so comfortable. Ironically, I had a picture of the apartment from my previous trip to Edinburgh! When I return to Scotland, I will be hoping Dunbar's Close is available!!!

Liked best: Everything! The views! Location! The home-like feeling I had! The service!
Liked least: The stairs were not fun with luggage, but mundane compared to all the things that are fabulous

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped for a short or long stay. The apartment is finished to a very high standard. The owner is very helpful and pleasant to deal with, and we were met on arrival.

Be aware of the stairs to the property if you have limited mobility, but they are common to many apartments in Edinburgh (and Glasgow). It's they way they were built!

“Excellent location, considerate owner = win win”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

From start to finish, we have been kept informed, dealt with politely and quickly with a minimum of fuss - and the attention to detail is unlikely to be found anywhere else in other rental options.
All fixtures and fittings are provided to ensure the comfort of guests - they only two negatives of the property are also the very reasons you stay...it is in the very heart of town, therefore parking is not always directly under the location and requires some planning, walking, movement of vehicles - which Mary helps you to handle, quite graciously. The other being the steps - which normally I wouldnt notice, however I injured my hip prior to our visit, so found the steps a bit of a challenge. Of course, you often just don't get period housing with the convience of a lift..so it is a case of enjoy the beautiful views and position and accept that quite a few stairs is a small price to pay. Worth noting when you are travelling when elderly or young..but absolutely no reason whatsover for not staying here - this place is decked out beautifully and considerately..which you will understand when you stay.

You will also find that people around Edinburgh know how considerate the apartment owner is - she has made quite a name for herself as being such a lovely person.

We loved it and would recommend it time and again - and will definitely stay here again when we return - we didnt get to meet Mary during our stay, but she provides such a warm special spot she deserves all the accolades she gets. Thanks so much

Thank you so much! I am really touched by your lovely personal comments.
I have recently had to give up meeting guests myself, due to a change in my personal commitments, but I'm delighted you still felt so welcome in my holiday home.

“Excellent stay on the Royal Mile at Dunbars Close”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Mary met us there at time we specified and after a little upstairs climb we entered the flat. Place was lovely and clean with excellent views.
We had a young baby so needed things for him of which was readily supplied.
Location excellent on the mile, had to park a bit away but we knew that and is city centre.
All in all a great stay and would definitely go back.
