“Great stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

I was impressed with this hotel. It's useful being near the airport (about 10-15 min drive by taxi, costing about £12 for 2 people). Its about 20mins from the city centre by taxi, but also has a bus stop right outside the hotel (regular service), and a useful Gala casino opposite the road too!

The staff were pleasant and frequently greeted us whether we were in the corridor or lounge area etc. The rooms were big, clean and comfy, especially as they had king sized beds. Its a shame they don't have smart TVs in the room, but the digital service was ok.

Overall service was good, especially as they helped accommodate early and late check-in's for us. Breakfast was fabulous, and I loved the fact that they have soya milk available for those with lactose intolerance...not many places do! We had lunch at the hotel on one day and was impressed with the quality of the food too. So they are consistent! Good value for money.

I would happily stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms with a sofa bed are really good. The sofa bed is big and comfy!

Booked into hotel before heading to airport next morning for an early flight, no problems at all, only thing was we went to the bar for a drink and prices were pretty expensive.Reception staff were efficient and friendly.

Stayed from the 14th until 17th on bussiness. Very frendly staff nice large rooms and top breakfasts. And
of fair price. A little way outside Edinbrugh but good bus route into the City in fact every 10 mins. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Stayed 4 nights at the hotel during a business trip.

Location is a very short drive from the airport. Other positive sides include extremely helpful, pleasant and polite staff, always ready to greet you with a smile, very well equipped gym, starbucks on premises, quiet and clean rooms with some of the local character. I have no other experiende in Scotland, but compared to my other trips, breakfast at this Mariott was plentiful. Nice taster of local food, fry up, plenty of cereals.

Wifi is only free at the lobby, quite pricey in-room. It is also not the best located hotel to explore Edinburgh town centre. These are the only 2 drawbacks.

Stayed here one night with my wife, we arrived early, our room was not ready so we took a cab into the city. As a gold member got an up grade to a deluxe room. Room clear tidy and plenty of room to move. We went to the executive lounge for a coffee, then to the bar for a bite to eat. I had stayed in this Marriott every month for the last seven months and this was the first change to the bar menu I had seen. This is a great improve to the choice available. Bed comfortable with good support. Breakfast in lounge plenty of choices both hot and cold plus the bonus of fresh toast.

Good standard I have come to expect from the Edinburgh Marriott.

We stayed here for two nights B&B with dinner on the first night. We booked a standard double room, but was pleasantly surprised when we got allocated a superior king. The room was spacious and had a separate seating area.

I had also arranged flowers for my wife as this was our 1st wedding anniversary. I was able to organise these in advance, hassle free.

Breakfast was of a high standard and the evening meal was also excellent. We had dinner included on the 1st night and you could select any 3 courses from the menu.

Excellent location if you are driving with free parking and only a 10-15min bus journey to Princes Street on the airport express, which we used several times with no problems. This is guaranteed to save you on parking tickets and bus lanes tickets if you get lost!

The zoo is also only a few minutes down the road and well worth visiting.

The swimming pool is small and more of a 'chill out' area with a spa, steam room and sauna. Still enjoyable and relaxing after a day walking around the city!

The staff were all very pleasant and we couldn't fault the service that we received.

family of four recently stayed three nights at this hotel. We had a room with two double beds that easily accommodated us. There was enough space to easily move around the room. The flat-screen TV was pleasantly large and had a very good selection of channels. The bathroom was very nice, with good water pressure and water temperature. The one downside to our room was the comfort of the mattresses. Although not overly uncomfortable, they were not the quality and comfort we have come to expect from Marriott.

The spa area was comfortable and relaxing. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool. The adults really enjoyed the Jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna. The breakfast buffet was included in our rate and it did not disappoint. There were a large variety of hot and cold items, to include made-to-order eggs. We also twice ate dinner at the restaurant. Although a little pricey, the food was very good.

The hotel is in a convenient location for access to the airport and city center. There are bus stops directly across from the hotel. Airlink bus #100 will take you to/from Waverly Bridge, which is within walking distance of many attractions.

The true highlight of this Marriott is their staff. I have not met a more courteous and helpful staff in any hotel I have ever stayed. They truly made a nice stay exceptional.
