“One of our favourite informal eating places in Edinburgh”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

This cafe is very much a restaurant in the evenings. Small and informal it retains a very French feel to it. This was my second visit within a month and the food, although very good, was maybe a little down on my November visit (the steak was not quite as good quality on the second visit) ~ maybe due to the higher numbers in December for shopping ??? That aside, I'll definitely be back.

“recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

Visited Cafe Marlayne once again for lunch and was not dissappointed. Meal was excellent and the wine was good. Restaurant was full by 12.30 so booking is necessary. No complaints about service even with a packed restaurant. Always a pleasure to go there.

“Good stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

There are few tables, and they're often full, but the food is a good value. Service is a bit slow, but it's good if you want to sit for a long lunch.

“Fantastic value lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

Lunch with friends, Cosy restaurant, waitress did a fab job navigating the tables. Between us the starter were moules, black pudding and goat cheese... good sized portions and we all cleaned our plates. Main course also excellent portion size. The Beef Bourguignon and Guinea Fowl were hearty plates that we all loved. Great location excellent service and lovely food.
