We stayed at this hotel for one night as we were in Edinburgh for the Tattoo , worst thing we ever did.
We arrived at 1.45pm but our rooms were noT ready so we told the receptionist we were going into town and we would only be back late, no problem.
After a great evening we arrived back at the hotel at 11.45pm,check in was quick and efficient.
We got out of the lift and our problems began, the corridors were bare , walls stripped, carpets threadbare.
On entering the room we went straight into the bathroom, old enamel bath- stained, sink- stained, wires hanging from mirror, awful bathroom!
Bedroom....well were do I start, threadbare carpet, window frame falling apart , ,rotted wood. Then came the bed, quilt cover stained, pulled the bottom sheet back and the mattress protector was in shreds, it was like confetti, what a disgrace.
We went to reception and spoke to Michael one of the managers on duty that evening. He came up to the room and couldn't believe his eyes, he was speechless. He took us downstairs gave us drinks while he took two other managers up to look at the room and to strip the bed.
We had no choice we had to stay there as there were no other rooms available in Edinburgh.
Next morning on checkout we asked for the manager, as Michael had told us he would leave a message and the room would be free.
The gentleman on reception came back and said we would only be charged £99 for the room, we protested ,he went back to the manager and then said it would be free.
We were annoyed that the manager didn't come out to apologise, then he walked passed us ,we asked "are you the manager?"
"We are the couple who had the problem with the room last night, we thought you might of come to speak to us?"
"Oh I didn't realise" was his response , but at no point did he apologise to us.
Take my advice don't even think of going here, it is an absolute disgrace that this so called hotel is even open . The only good thing about this hotel is Michael who was on duty that night, he was lovely, sympathetic and very understanding. .The other manager should take some lessons off him...what a rude man he was.
