So, I went to Edinburgh to see the Fringe Festival. The hotel is a 20-minute bus or taxi ride away from Edinburgh City Center. Bus will cost you 1.20 GBP, a taxi about 12-14 GBP.
Spartan, but comfy, quarters. An OK gym. Room service is strange (only pizza after 10 PM, which is ... OK). It has a great buffet breakfast, and good regular food after 12 PM. You can't order breakfast to the room (you have to go to the buffet, which costs 12 GBP. The breakfast is good - great English Breakfast).
Very modern entrance, although lobby smells like sweaty man (you get used to it -- especially if you go directly to your room). Otherwise, it's a convenient hotel during the festival season. If you can afford the taxi ride, this is the hotel for you. I had a great view of the charming suburban community around me.
Gym has some rusty equipment, but it's serviceable for a temporary abode. Machines, light free weights, elipticals, treadmills, cycling (not spinning bikes), and I think a stairmaster.
Overall an OK stay, and a bit expensive for what you get. It's all I was able to get last-minute during the last week at the Festival.
