We stayed here from Good Friday to Easter Sunday, using our Tesco club card vouchers. The price was £250 for 2 B&B, however we paid nothing. For this reason this hotel was great, however if I had paid full price, I may have been a bit disappointed.
The location is perfect. We had a front room which has beautiful views over the castle and Princes Street and relatively little noise. Everything is within walking distance, except Royal Yacht Britannia, which was our favourite location to visit. The breakfasts were great, buffet style and very relaxed. The bed was a super king size and ours seemed to be very new. Our room had been recently decorated, we could still smell the paint.
Even with the redecoration the room, and the rest of the hotel is very tired and in great end of new carpets and furniture. There are stains on the carpets and the furniture is chipped and worn. The towels are very thin and hard. The bathroom was really old and dated, although the water pressure was excellent.
On the whole, I would advise anyone to use this hotel for a short trip to Edinburgh, but make sure you get a good deal, or use your Tesco vouchers.
