Our one night stay at the Scotsman was excellent. After a short walk from Edinburgh's main bus station we crossed the bridge and the hotel entrance was right in front of us. Gavin, the concierge, gave us a warm welcome and after a very efficient check-in he showed us to our room on the 7th floor.
Our room was the cheapest type available (a study room) but very spacious and it had everything we needed - mini-bar, tea & coffee making facilities, internet access, iron, robes, slippers and, best of all, windows that actually opened. The bed was a normal double size and very comfortable. The view from the two large windows was excellent of the bridge and as far as Princess Street.
The bathroom was quite small but well appointed and the toiletries were the Cowshed brand.
We went swimming in the stainless steel pool and enjoyed the jacuzzi hot tub afterward.
That evening we ate in the hotel's North Street Brasserie, where we enjoyed more excellent service and good food.
Check-out was fast and friendly with Gavin escorting us, via the hotel lift, directly to the Waverley Railway station entrance.
We found everything about the hotel excellent - room, service, restaurant, location and ambiance.
Will definitely go back next time we are in Edinburgh.
