Having stayed at a couple of the Marriott Country Clubs we chose the Dalmahoy for a Bank Holiday getaway and we were not dissapointed.

The out of town location is perfect for that relaxing getaway. The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. The best part for us was the view from the restaurant, it is stunning, overlooking the golf course and fountain water feature. All of the lounge/bar areas are perfect for that relaxing, do-nothing mood.

When we arrived our King Room was not ready but we were offered a smaller room which was ready, we chose to wait for the larger room. We were told to wait in the lounge but had to distract a memeber of staff to order drinks as they were rushed off thier feet with two weddings.

We eventually got into our room and it is what we expected, roomy, clean and comfortable. There were extra towels in the bathroom, a great selection of toiletries and a huge bed that ensured a comfortable night's sleep.

Once settled we spent the afternoon in the Long Weekend Bar. It was fairly full of members playing golf but they were friendly and had a little chat with us. Overall a nice atmosphere.

Dinner was fantastic both nights. The food was lovely served by very friendly staff. However, the air con was a little too cold, we had to ask for it to be turned up a few degrees. Breakfast both days was also very nice, the hard working staff ensured everything went smoothly even though they were very busy.

We chose to leave the car at the hotel and take a taxi into Edinburgh. It didn't take long and was costly at £40 for both ways but it was hassle free for us. The Fringe Festival was in full swing which helped make a great atmosphere even if it was wall to wall people!

If you would prefer an out of town location the Dalmahoy is perfect. We had such a lovely weekend we will definitley return next year.

The Hotel was lovely in a great location, for a romantic weekend break. If you would prefer to be on the outskirts and have the freedom of travelling in to the city this hotel is ideal.

We travelled one day on the bus which took about 15 mins, I would say make sure you get the Number 25 if you park in the park and ride a couple of minutes away, as we just got on any bus to the centre and it went all around the world!!!

One evening we went into the city centre and took a taxi recommended by the staff on reception it cost around £16 each way.

Food at the hotel was lovely for the price, good portion sizes.....

and what can I say about breakfast... perfect.
We went down to breakfast around 9.00-10.00am. As we were leaving there was a rather large queue of people waiting to be seated for breakfast.
So if you dont want to be hanging around a would say get there early, especially if the hotel is full the evening you are staying.

We didnt get to use the leisure facilites althought they looked amazing, we were to busy in Edinburgh, we really could of done with extra night, even if it was just for relaxing.

Overall a great hotel in a great city.

As everyone has said, this is a great hotel. Large room, lovely bathroom, fantastic Marriott bed. I actually looked forward to going to sleep.

The facilities are amazing - huge swimming pool, steam room, sauna, etc. Very nice grounds ( I didn't play golf, but it looked nice).

Great buffet breakfast - everything you could want.

There's a bus that goes right by the hotel that takes you right to Princes St. in Edinburgh for a pound. Very easy, and a great deal (a taxi would be 20 pounds).

Only one small complaint... the walls must be thin. When my husband and I were trying to fall asleep, we could very easily hear the voices of anyone walking down the hall outside our room. A minor annoyance, but still.

I would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for an anniversary weekend break. If you don't mind staying a little way from the city, it is a beautiful place to stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. You can catch a bus into Edinburgh, just outside the hotel gates. Our rooms were very well furnished. Super comfy beds, bright and modern rooms. Breakfast was delicious. The only downside to this hotel is the price of the drinks and food. There is a pub about 5 minutes away that is very friendly and has much bette prices. Loved this hotel and would use it again if in Edinburgh.

Lets start with the good points!
Food in the lodge @ night lovely, wedding meal beautiful,
rooms old fashioned but nice.. Grounds beautiful, st marys church lovely.
Bad points.........well lets start with the staff, then again i think i'll
leave that till the end, food at lunch-time cold, however ate because we were hungry, drinks are way over-priced, price of food over-priced also, if you need to visit the toilet in the lodge you
have to go through the changing area, were everyone is getting changed to go swimming, not something i care to see before i eat, (ladies & gents separate). I am no prude, however you try explaining to your old aunt and grandmother that they may see a few naked bodies jaunting about before they eat.. Now to the staff, one word can not sum up the way i feel about them, well most of them, lots do not understand a word your saying because they are foreign, which begs the question, how do they pass health and safety regulations, if they do not understand us.
I had to put up with some staff being rude, and totally obnoxious, also wanting to argue over something they clearly knew better than me, and continually said i was wrong on at least 3 occasions about the same matter, to be honest i had given up at this point, i was there to relax and have fun not get into an argument. All in all, if you want to spend lots of money on drink and food, and want to have huge disagreements with some of the staff, oh and walk round the grounds/play golf, then its right up your alley...5* its not, premier hotel its not, certified wedding and event planner( if they turn up on ur special day), enjoy...
