Having stayed at a couple of the Marriott Country Clubs we chose the Dalmahoy for a Bank Holiday getaway and we were not dissapointed.
The out of town location is perfect for that relaxing getaway. The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. The best part for us was the view from the restaurant, it is stunning, overlooking the golf course and fountain water feature. All of the lounge/bar areas are perfect for that relaxing, do-nothing mood.
When we arrived our King Room was not ready but we were offered a smaller room which was ready, we chose to wait for the larger room. We were told to wait in the lounge but had to distract a memeber of staff to order drinks as they were rushed off thier feet with two weddings.
We eventually got into our room and it is what we expected, roomy, clean and comfortable. There were extra towels in the bathroom, a great selection of toiletries and a huge bed that ensured a comfortable night's sleep.
Once settled we spent the afternoon in the Long Weekend Bar. It was fairly full of members playing golf but they were friendly and had a little chat with us. Overall a nice atmosphere.
Dinner was fantastic both nights. The food was lovely served by very friendly staff. However, the air con was a little too cold, we had to ask for it to be turned up a few degrees. Breakfast both days was also very nice, the hard working staff ensured everything went smoothly even though they were very busy.
We chose to leave the car at the hotel and take a taxi into Edinburgh. It didn't take long and was costly at £40 for both ways but it was hassle free for us. The Fringe Festival was in full swing which helped make a great atmosphere even if it was wall to wall people!
If you would prefer an out of town location the Dalmahoy is perfect. We had such a lovely weekend we will definitley return next year.
