My partner and I decided to book this hotel after reading all the reviews. And it didn't disappoint us at all! the hotel doesn't look big from the outside ( compare to their sister hotel next door, at first we were thinking if we should have book the international apex instead) but as soon as we entered the hotel we knew it was right for us.
The room is cosy and we love the shower!
Check in is fast and hassle free, but the lady in reception kinda freaks us a little ( she was on the phone with someone and the entire hall can hear the conversation).
The staffs were friendly and very very helpful. We were looking for a shop in old town, while checking it with the bar staff they were very kindly to Google it and even print the map for us! we had the nicest cocktail ever and the service just first class!
We had our breakfast in the ground floor restaurant. The buffet is great and the service was excellent. My partner asked for full Scottish breakfast and I went for the buffet. Dinner was great too. The waitress was very friendly and chatty, we end up having 2 bottle of wine!

if you are looking for a hotel with great location, friendly service and good quality bedroom, you will not be disappointed.

We arrived on the sleeper from London at 7am (by far the best way to arrive in Scotland) and walked through the post-party streets to see if the hotel would store our bags until check-in time.
Not only would they store our bags, but they sorted out a room for us while we ate breakfast; we were all showered and upacked by 9am.
Great service, a nice, clean hotel, nothing posh. Convenient for the castle and Royal Mile - we had a castle view, which was an unexpected treat.
Just up the hill are a couple of great restaurants, so you don't need to walk far - a bonus after we had run the marathon.
We got a good price booking early on the hotel's own website, cheaper than the 'discount' websites.

  • Liked — Convenience
  • Disliked — Slight smell of smoke in the room - which soon cleared.

Every thing about this hotel was first rate. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is disabled. The bedroom was ideal with a wet floor shower. I have stayed in hotels that have rooms suitable for the disabled and the bathroom has only a bath. The staff were more than helpful and the breakfast was great. It is your own fault if you leave breakfast hungry.

This is a great modern hotel to stay in. It was reasonable value for money and in a good location for the caste and the old part of city. There are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby and it isn't too far to walk to Princes Street for shopping.

The rooms are a good size with a nice walk in shower. Breakfast is good with plenty of choice.

We would definately stay there again.

I travelled to Edinburgh for work, and this hotel was great because it had fast free Wi-fi, as well as being in a convenient location, right on Grassmarket. There is a gym in their sister hotel down the road. The staff are polite and helpful, the restaurant is of a good quality, and the rooms are better than you might expect. For a big hotel, it felt quite homely, although of course it was a business hotel and it can't ever quite feel like a B&B.

Got a discount rate of £80 a night, which was pretty good value for a hotel right in town.
