I travelled to Edinburgh for work, and this hotel was great because it had fast free Wi-fi, as well as being in a convenient location, right on Grassmarket. There is a gym in their sister hotel down the road. The staff are polite and helpful, the restaurant is of a good quality, and the rooms are better than you might expect. For a big hotel, it felt quite homely, although of course it was a business hotel and it can't ever quite feel like a B&B.

Got a discount rate of £80 a night, which was pretty good value for a hotel right in town.

We have just returned from a weekend break in Wee Edinburgh. There is so much to say about the hotel and the place I don’t know where to start!

We booked the Apex City hotel as it was a good price and a good location to everything. We booked on the hotel website, which is were we found the cheapest price, coz if you go to the booking section and make sure you click on the ‘pre-booking discount’ tab you will get a cheaper price (please be aware that there are T/C apply to this)
As our flight was getting in at 8 am and checking in wasn’t until (I think) 2pm, we asked if we could have an early check in – which didn’t seem too much of a problem.

We got a shuttle bus from the airport which will take you direct to the hotel and it was £15 for the two of us.
The room was lovely clean and modern and it was a disabled room which I thin was mainly down to the only available room for an earlier check inn, but to be honest we didn’t mind that.
Our room was on the 4 floor so we had lovely view of the castle from the lobby. The view from the room wasn’t much to write home about but to be honest we didn’t spend must time looking out the window – why would you when you have such a beautiful city to explore!!
As the room was a disabled room we didn’t have a bath but more of a wet room which came with towels, shower gel (which smells gorgeous) and shampoo.
The room came with DVD Player, Tea & Coffee making facilities, Iron & ironing board and fee bottled water (still and fizzy) each day.
The location of the hotel was great. Staggering distance from lots of pubs and great places to eat nearby.
The bus service is amazing it was just going up to £1.10 when we were there but that’s £1.10 to get anywhere in Edinburgh! (Including the zoo!) or you can get a day ticket which was £2.50ish which is well worth it!
We walked from the hotel to Prince Street and back most days this took about 20min. Try to stop off a t a few pubs on the way back to break up the hill!!
Taxis from the hotel to Prince Street was about £4-£5. If you are planning to eat out in Prince Street or Fredrick Street or near by make sure you book first….we didn’t……

We made the mistake of not getting the ‘Edinburgh pass’ (think that’s what it’s called) which will save a lot of money if you plan on seeing lots!

All the people we meant were lovely! And very helpful!

Over all I would come back again to Edinburgh and I would stay at the apex hotel.

Nice hotel located in Grassmarket, busy area at the weekend. Hotel noisy enough on Sat and Sun night, lots of groups of young people can be noisy coming back in to corridors 4am or so. Rooms nice, breakfast great. A pity the hotel don't give you a location map so you know exactly where you are inrelation to Royal Mile, which is only a short distance up the hill or to Princes street which again is only a short distance. Took us a day to figure out how close we were to everything, a little map handed to you by reception would solve this. Lovely restaurant Mussels & steak just across the square or Maxies just at the end of the square and up the hill. Don't forget to visit the hat shop Fabhatrix
An enjoyable experience except for the noise in the middle of the night.

This hotel was definitely a high end hotel. The people at the front desk were friendly and efficient and the hotel itself seemed newer and was very clean. From our room we had a view of Edinburgh Castle (and you could also see the castle from the hotel entrance). The room itself was a bit on the small side but still had plenty of room for the two twin beds, sitting area, and desk/TV area. The beds were soft and comfortable and there were room darkening curtains over the windows so it was VERY dark when the curtains were closed and great for sleeping. The bathroom was awesome! It was pretty big and had an open shower AND a tub. It was very sparkly and modern looking. The hotel has two computers on the first floor that anyone can use to get online for free which is a fantastic bonus. It also has free wireless so you can bring your laptop. I was only there for two days so I didn't get a chance to check out the hotel restaurant (I ate out) but I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Edinburgh. I hope I can get back there to spend some more time in the city -- and I will definitely be staying at this place again!

The hotel has a very good location, 5 minute walk from Royal Mile. Nice bars and pubs nearby. Also has great view to the Castle. The rooms have above the average size. You can easly open your luggage. The staff is very kind and most of the cases non-snobish. The breakfast is also good and service is ok. It's a great coice to stay at.
