We selected the Apex Euopean Hotel from a travel web-site for our first visit to Edinburgh. Not being familiar with the city, we selected the hotel off the web by location (to attractions) and price. We were not disappointed in the least with our choice.
The hotel had just been updated and the room, while small, was contemporary, very clean and comfortable.
The staff was absolutely GREAT! We were treated with highly professional and welcoming attention from the moment we arrived until we left two days later. The front desk (Sanal and Daniel) functioned as much as a concierge may have at many five star hotels. They offered directions, advice, booked tours and limo service when we were in need. They even recommended the city's bus as an option to get around easily. It stopped right out front for a short five minute ride to many central city stops. And at two pounds, fifty for an all-day ticket, it was a very economical way to get around. Without the advice, we would have called taxicabs every time we chose not to walk.
The hotel restaurant was a special added suprise for us. We enjoyed great meals made with fresh local products. The waitstaff was more than nice and performed their duties as if they were happy to be there. Management has selected well when choosing their staff.
We would recommend this hotel to other travelers or choose it again when returning to Edinburgh.
