“Good Hotel at a Reasonable Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

I chose this hotel for its reasonable price and good location for exploring the Royal Mile and Old Town portions of Edinburgh. My room was quite good with a very comfortable bed and a view of the in-city Bruntsfield Links very old, pitch & putt golf course.. It is an easy 20-minute uphill walk (or short cab ride) to the Royal Mile. The breakfasts were good, the bar was very good, and dinner was fine, though not exceptional.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the park/golf links.

The staff at Bruntsfield were helpful and friendly, the room comfortable and the breakfast good. Parking is limited so having found a space we used the excellent bus service. However, we found the dining room too warm for our liking so we did not sample the evening menu.

It's a while since I last stayed here and the hotel seems to have had a substantial update. The room I stayed in (206) was a lovely large room with a separate part with a single bed which would be ideal for a couple with 1 child. The large bed was very comfortable & I had a good night's sleep. The bathroom was nice & large with a larger than usual shower and a nice deep bath.

It was good to see that there were 3 mugs in the room and there was complimentary shortbread as well as the usual tea, coffee & hot chocolate. There were a couple of easy chairs in the main room & a writing desk in the part with the single bed. The Wifi was free and I had no problems with the speed or access. It was good to find that there was a Gideon bible in the room as a lot of hotels seem to have removed them in PC gone mad.

There is limited free parking outside the hotel and some on the main road.

The breakfast was very good with a huge choice of hot & cold food. The cooked breakfast was cooked to order and much the better for it! There was both haggis & black pudding available and the quality of the ingredients was very good. An excellent breakfast.

The rooms are somewhat small but they have everything one needs. All areas were very clean and tidy. Staff was very friendly and informed. Good breakfast buffett. It is located in a very nice area of Edinburgh with a bus stop almost in front of the door. Bus 11,16 or 15 will taje you to the city center in 15 minutes or it is possible to walk as well.
Totally recommended hotel.

Although we enjoyed staying at this comfortable and pleasant hotel very much, it unfortunately has a major drawback, and that is it is too far away from the main tourist areas of Edinburgh. It's a good 20-30 minute walk, which feels safe enough, but in bad weather (we had rainy days), it feels much further away. The staff couldn't have been any nicer--every one of them. And they arranged for the best taxi driver I've ever had to get to our hotel at 4 am to take us to the Edinburgh airport for a 6 am flight. Rooms are spacious; bathrooms spotless; beds comfortable. Convenient restaurant down in the basement--very friendly staff there too.

Room Tip: When you book, be absolutely clear about the location since it is 20-30 minutes from the major touri...

We stayed two nights in sept 13 two adults and two children( 6&9) we looked for ages to find hotel with connecting rooms which this hotel had . Both rooms were a good size, well equipped , comfortable and clean . Hotel staff were helpful and very pleasant we ate in the bar/ brasserie one evening and a local Italian the other , both of which were very nice . Hotel situated in a nice area opposite a lovely park . Close enough to walk to city Center or £6 in taxi ,though we had a hire car and didn't use public transport that much , hotel carpark small but we always got a space . Would I go back "yes" it was very nice . Well done . Wjjm75 42yrs

I was taken here as a surprise for my birthday by my better half- Oh we loved it!

Our room was huge, with a single bed as you walk in and a double bed through the arch! We had a lovely view of the park across the road, despite the usual October rain! The bathroom was also immaculate.
Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice. WE only ate in the restaurant once, and the food was amazing!
The whole place was kept clean, the staff were lovely and helpful, and the decor throughout was in very good taste!
We will definitely be stay here again- can't praise it enough!

Room Tip: We had a room on the very top floor facing the front of the hotel- we loved it!
