We got a good deal for our two nights stay at this hotel.......should have known that it was too good to be true!
Our room was tiny although nicely furnished! But we couldn't walk around the bed without difficulty and there was nowhere for our two suitcases.
The bathroom was VERY ordinary and the door wouldn't close.
There were no fluffy robes etc that others have mentioned.

I was very disappointed after the rave reviews and the gorgeous photos on the hotel's website!

But on a positive note, all the staff were very friendly and helpful!

The restaurant was OK. Not fabulous though.

But breakfast was good!

stayed for 2 nights in the Discovery Suite.

Room lovely - bathrooom fantastic with claw foot bath and great views. Service was great - the staff couldn't do enough to help out and the food was excellent too.

The lounge areas are great - with lovely fire and leather furniture.

Just a ten minute walk to the centre of town.

Would thoroughly recommend.

Thought this hotel was great. It's located within a very traditional row of Edinburgh town houses, and is a 5 - 10 minute walk from Prince's Street.

Good Points:
Large room & comfy bed
Complementary bathrobes
Large, roll top bath
Molton Brown toiletries
Great breakfast with wide choice of items
Log fire in lounge area
Iron, Ironing board & hair-dryer in room
Pleasant staff

Not so good points:
Only one teeny weeny one - thought the bar area downstairs lacked any particular charm or character.

Whilst the majority of rooms are decorated in a fairly traditional style, if you are after something a little more chic, ask for one of the suites on the top floor.

If I'm lucky enough to go to Edinburgh in the near future I would certainly stay there again.

Having visited Edinburgh many times before I knew where the hotel was situated, at the west end 10 mins walk from princes street, 5 mins walk down to stockbridge.
From the moment I arrived I felt extremely welcome & the staff couldn't be more helpful. After a long days travel I was quite tried & hungry so opted to have room service.
I was told that the food could take up to 20 minutes so I relaxed & within 15 minutes the food arrived. I had butternut squash risotto which was delicous accompanied by a lovely glass of white wine that the had been recommened to me by the person that had taken my order.
The bed was very comfortable & the roll top bath was amazing.
Breakfast buffet had a good selection of fruit on offer & the coffee was a good blend.
Overall I will definately recommend Channings to anyone that wants to visit Edinburgh.
