My family and I(3 children, 2 adults) had the best time in Edinburgh and The Knight Residence made it even better. We were met by the very wonderful Mr. Chris when we arrived and he promptly took us to our rooms...which had been upgraded from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom! He showed us around the apartment and all the amenities there....microwave, dishwasher, cooking utensils and best of all, for a family with children, the washing machine....with washing powder provided. The rooms were big and very comfortable with spotless bathrooms. You can choose if housekeeping is needed or not. Chris pointed out to us useful places like Sainbury's and Tesco, all a short distance away, if we ever need essentials. While there are 2 or 3 strip bars round the corner, those didn't bother us and we ignore them. Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, the Grassmarket area are all within walking distance. KR definitely made our time in Edinburgh that more special and memorable and we would definitely stay here if we're in Edinburgh again.

Wonderful apartments, on arrival the staff couldnt have been more friendly and helpful. We booked a 1 bedroom comfort apartment and were upgraded to a 2 bedroom, large rooms, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Parking space was a definite bonus in central Edinburgh. The noise from outside was not particularly noticeable and the nearby lapdancing clubs no problem at all, loads of doormen around during opening hours. Apartments really well situated for walking into town, less than 5 mins to the grassmarket. Found the best deal was on their own website, definitely worth a visit, the best place to stay in Edinburgh.

We stayed for two nights (Mum, Dad and two girls - 12 and 9) and we all loved it. The appartment was large, clean, well appointed and little extras like a huge breakfast pack, juice, milk and water in the fridge were a really nice touch. The staff were knowledgeable, charming and helpful and the best of Edinburgh was on our doorstep. Wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Our experience was perfect from the time we were met by Christopher at the front desk. Nothing was too much trouble. Make sure you have a GPS when trying to find it as it is a little tricky to locate in the Edinburgh one way street set up.
Plenty of room for a family and the welcoming pack of teddy bears and breakfast items was greatly appreciated. Access to Edinburgh Castle was an easy walk.

The positives:
Good staff and reception, good facilites inside the room. Was quite large and well stocked with food and amenities. The staff are really helpful and nice.

The negatives:
Very noisy, thin walls and window glass means you could hear everything from neighbouring rooms and the street. There is a construction site directly in front of the hotel and work started around 7am waking us up. The hotel is also situated amongst three strip clubs and an adult shop. The heater temp knob was broken so room was perpetually hot.

Management response from EdinburghApartments, General Manager
(Management representative)
May 22, 2009
Thank you for your review of The Knight Residence. We truly value the feedback of all our guests.

I was glad to read your positive comments on our staff, reception and facilities. However, I was concerned to read that there were some issues that affected your stay.

I hope you don’t mind if I answer some of these concerns.

Because the property is situated so centrally in Edinburgh, a certain amount of noise is to be expected. However, I do apologise that you experienced more than the average amount of noise during your stay. The construction site opposite our one bedroom apartments is on target to be completed before September 2009. The walls between each apartment are made of brick, not stud partitions and all windows are double glazed. Perhaps on this occasion your neighbours were unusually noisy – I understand how annoying this must have been but assure you this situation is far from typical.

Again, because the property is situated in the heart of the city, there are indeed bars and a shop as you describe, but that could be said of many cities in the UK and indeed many other area's of Edinburgh. The advantage of being so central is that guests can enjoy all of the major attractions of the city on foot.

I’m also sorry that there were problems with the temperature of your apartment. We do endeavour to address any issues at the time that they arise, including 24/7 access to heating engineers so please do let us know if there is anything that you are not happy with on any future visits and we will do our best to fix this during your stay.

I hope that, despite these issues, you had an enjoyable visit to Edinburgh. Please let us know if you have any further feedback or suggestions.

With best wishes,
Colin Stone
