I have just returned from a long weekend in Edinburgh having had the pleasure of staying in The Knight Residence. I know Edinburgh relatively well and the location is ideal. A very short walk to the Royal Mile, very close to Prince's St and Gdns and no distance to Rose or George Street. The bars and restaurants of thr Grassmarket are minutes away.

There are lap dancing clubs in the local area BUT this is hardly something the Knight Residence has any control over and, we experienced no problems whatsover.

The amenities in the apartment are first class. The decor is very contemporary and the whole place is very comfortable.

I will go back to the Knight Residence and will recommend the place to friends and family without any hesitation.

If you want to stay in a place that you can spread out, this is it. It was much larger than I expected with every amenity you could wish for along with a welcome tour from the concierge so that we knew how to work the washer/dishwasher/etc. The location is great - an easy walk to the Royal Mile or the Grassmarket. Right now, there is construction going on across the street from the hotel. It wasn't too bad except for one morning when they were jack hammering but this didn't diminish our view of the place. If we go back to Edinburgh in the future, this is where we'll stay.

  • Liked — So much room!
  • Disliked — construction across the street

After 10 days of B&B's with sometimes small rooms and smaller bathrooms, our 2 BR comfort apartment was a welcome change. Although the Knight Residence was not inexpensive, we thought that it was worth every penny. The kitchen, washer/dryer, and free parking add significant value. The location is surprisingly quiet given the apartment's proximity to downtown Edinburgh.

We felt that the concierge service offered just the right amount of help when we needed it. It really was the best of both worlds (apartment vs full-service hotel).

And don't forget to visit 'Two Thin Laddies' cafe around the corner for breakfast or lunch. Their take-away food makes an excellent picnic!

Unfortunately we ended up cancelling out trip and never got a chance to actually stay there, but the staff went out of their way to arrange a child minder for us, and made arrangements to accomodate us early. I hope I get a chance to actually experience the hotel!

Our extended family, travelling through Scotland and England together, booked 4 apartments for 2 nights. We were extremely happy with this hotel. At check in we asked about the 3 lap dancing joints in close proximity and were assured that they would not be a problem, and they were not. The views of Edinburgh castle from all windows were amazing, plus we were able to walk to all destinations and didn't have to remove our vehicles from the secure parking area at all. The washer and dryer, plus dishwasher, and the provided selection of cereals, coffee, tea, snacks and even milk were very welcome. The rooms were very clean, and we all enjoyed the flat screen tvs, dvd players plus provided movies very much after a day of sight seeing. The staff was very attentive and helpful. It was very difficult to find gem of a residence, and we wish that detailed directions had been provided to us from the hotel, which would have saved well over a half hour of driving around one way streets looking for it. However, once there, it was a wonderful place to stay for that part of our vacation.

  • Liked — Clean rooms with kitchen and laundry facilities, plus amazing views
  • Disliked — The 3 lap dancing places that were vey close to hotel
