This is the letter I sent to the hotel manager. They NEVER acknowledged it! TO BE AVOIDED AT YOUR 'HIGH' COST!!!
Dear Hotel Manager,
With reference to the above stay in your hotel, unfortunately I feel I have to write a formal letter of complaint. My expectations for the hotel based on its history, location & price per person were quite high so I was horrified with the accommodation, food & service during our stay. I actually booked two rooms for two couples for two nights with breakfast at a cost of £536.00 and I have to say I have stayed in 1 and 2 star hotels for less than half the cost, which were far superior in every aspect. Please find below a list of concerns arising from our stay;
1. The room was tiny and cramped to the point where the furniture didn’t really fit properly.
2. The room overlooked a side street with bins/skips with workmen shouting out frequently during the day.
3. The room was very hot and stuffy and the only window that could be opened for ventilation was in a poor state of repair.
4. I burnt my wrist on the towel rail which is still blistered and sore and noticed at the time there were no warning signs in the ensuite to warn of potential risk of burning.
5. The paper I ordered for the Sunday morning was never delivered.
6. The Full Scottish Breakfast was awful. The scrambled eggs were congealed and like that of powdered egg served in a hospital, the bacon was not cooked properly. On the Sunday I waited and waited and then had to ask someone for coffee and toast after eating the meal!
As you can see I am really disappointed that a supposedly special and very rare weekend away with my wife has been soured by our experience at your hotel.
Under the circumstances, I am more than happy to call all of the major internet companies that deal with you and give them this factual information so others don’t have to put up with it. Edinburgh is a lovely city marred by what is perceived to be a quality hotel.
YOU DECIDE?!
