The Glenora hotel, is in a great location for Haymarket station - it's literally less than a minutes walk from the station. It''s about a 15 minute walk to princess street ( shopping street) which is a pleasant walk.
The rooms were clean, and there was plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, if you were staying longer than a weekend this would be more than adequate. The bathroom was very tiny, but had good quality fittings and was brand new.
When you check in, you are issued with a key for your room which also opens the front door. This means that you don't interact with the staff unless you need something ( reception is manned until 9pm( or see anyone until breakfast time - this feels a bit like you are in an apartment complex or similar.
The breakfast was the best thing about this hotel. it was served from 7.30-9am and everything was organic, from the tomato ketchup to the yoghurts and the bread. You could have a cooked breakfast of mushrooms, tomato, sausage, bacon and either fried or scrampled egg - or any variation on this. The staff were helpful and pleasant. There were also cereals, yohgurt, fruit and fruit juice. A very substantial breakfast to set you up for the day!
The only comment I would make about the hotel, it that although the rooms were clean and tidy and looked quite new, it's really only a nice bed and breakfast, I expected a little more after reading the reviews and looking at the pictures of the website. There is no lounge, or bar. the prices are a little over what I would have expected to pay for a bed and breakfast. You can get a room in the Channings or Bonham boutique hotel in the centre, which has a bar and a restaurant, concierge etc for £140 per room per night, which is about £6.00 more expensive than this hotel per person total.
