“excellent but does not deserve a 5 star rating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

The presenter was probably one important factor why this was rated so high. She obviously did an excellent job. The cave certainly is very unusual and had a number of unanswered questions. A very nice place to visit and may attract further research into the subject later. However, it does not deserve a rating higher than the Edinburgh castle. Must book before embarking on the bus trip, even in a low season like early March. There were 2 parties who was refused entry because they did not book before hand.

“Mysterioooooous”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

This was a fun little trip about 20 min or so with bus from Edinburgh centre. We had a great time :)

The underground cave is not very big, and if you'd been sent down alone to just look around, it could quickly have become rather dull. However; the woman that guided us was perfect for the job! She showed us around, told us everything there was to know, and told funny little stories and jokes. She was enthusiastic in a very positive way, and made it interesting.

The cave is impressing, and it's a unique site. It wasn't too expensive either, so good value for money!

“interesting, mysterious and different”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

The Gilmerton Cove is situated south of Edinburgh city centre. Visit their website for information as to how to get there. The bus journey takes approximately 15 minutes from Edinburgh's North Bridge. The tour lasts approximately 40 minutes and is very informative. The fee is £7.50 for adults.

“Good mystery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

This underground mystery is worth a look. The tunnels and rooms make you wonder what they were made for. The tour guide was excellent and fun. The only thing not giving it a five is that it is a bit out of the way and only lasts 45 minutes but if you have extra time it is worth seeing.

“A great little find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

We went here on a weekend afternoon and absolutely enjoyed the experience. When you reach the door it looks very strange, but once u get in the door you get the feel of whats its going to be like. The lady who conducts the tour is very warm and welcoming and shares all her knowledge/theories in a great manner, which is interesting for the adults and kids alike. We do wish they get the govt grant and excavate it further so we can go back there 10yrs down the line to explore some more! :) Definitely recommend this experience to everyone!
