“Great views of the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

Not a difficult climb to the top, but well worth it when you get there. Fabulous views of the city! We were lucky- it was an unusually bright February afternoon and we could see for miles. Not sure whether we'd have been as impressed had the weather been against us, I guess you've got to make sure you've checked out the weather forecast first. Wrap up, it could get a bit windy up there.

“Excellent View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

Went up here to look at the Scottish National Monument and take some pictures of the city at night & day. If you're a sightseeing enthusiast who loves to take pictures this pace is a must! Excellent views.

“History and views all in one place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

Hardly any effort and the city is suddenly laid out at your feet. There may be seven hills but I think, all things considered, this might be the best?!

“Drafty but excellent views of the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2014 via mobile

Not the best place to be on a mid february day, you need to wrap up, unless you're a local with irn bru for blood, of course! Not a difficult climb and well worth it for the views and photo opportunities of the old and new towns, the divide is instantly noticeable.
There are a few structues up there too, obsevatory, a climable monument, an acropolis(?), but other than taking pics, didn't interact.
Well worth the time for excellent views, but wrap up!

“I found Abe Lincoln in Edinburgh”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

Calton Hill is predominantly a cemetery with majestic Greek overtones. It's sooty, blackened yellow stones, however provide the perfect gothic creepiness an old cemetery should have.

What is amazing, however, is that there is a large monument to Abe Lincoln, celebrating the Scottish soldiers who died in our Civil War
