This is an excellent hotel. They offer car parking facilities so you can leave your car in their ( rather full?) car park while you are away. We only live 85 miles from Edinburgh but we stayed the night here because we had an early check in.

I would say that the location of this hotel makes it ideal for tourists also. You can be in the city centre in minutes , using an airport shuttle.

Remember to store the hotel phone number in your mobile ( cellphone) then when you return, you can be picked up by the smart and efficient hotel shuttle bus. Before you retrieve your car, ask the driver for the PIN number for the barrier or you will be unable to leave the car park. Security is good.

I stay in hotels a lot and I can honestly say that this is one of the best airport hotels in Scotland. The bar prices are shockingly extortionate, but oh well, that's the UK for you. We ate in the bar and the food was very good indeed. I looked into the restaurant and it looked very swanky and upmarket.

I also noticed quite a few single ladies, i.e., business travellers, staying there. This friendly , safe hotel is ideal for the single lady travelling alone.

The only negative thing I can think of, is that they allow cigarette smoking right outside the front door. We were eating our bar meal and every time the front door opened ( the ground floor is open plan) we were treated to a whiff of tobacco smoke. Similarly, our room was directly above the front door and there was a bit of noise during the night, presumably also from the cigarette smoking brigade. But this is true of every hotel in Scotland, and it did not really detract from what was a very pleasurable stay indeed.

  • Liked — Spotlessly clean, good security, friendly staff.
  • Disliked — cigarette smokers standing right at the front door ( unacceptable nowadays)

This is a basic chain-type hotel that is very convenient to the airport. The office for our rental car was in their lobby. Efficient shuttle service to the airport - you can request what time in the morning. Everything is clean and nice; food was decent. Our room had no window! Felt like a dungeon, but we booked at the last minute only 2 days ahead. Children's room was nicer, but on a different floor... guess they were full. (I only saw one other hotel this close to the airport.) The rooms were expensive, but the convenience was worth it.... would have been a long and very early drive from downtown Edinburgh to make check-in for our 9am flight.

Getting there – If arriving by plane put the hotel phone number into your mobile – give them a bell after clearing Customs ( option 4 on the automated phone system) & a VW minibus will collect you at the bus stance just outside the main arrivals hall. All very efficient.

Location – The hotel s a few minutes drive from the airport right by the boundary fence – located next to factory units and in front of a car auction & to be fair if you are using the hotel closeness to the airport must be playing a part in your decision rather than the ambience of location – otherwise you would pay £5 on the bus & select a city centre location.

The building – Those of you from the UK may recall a long running TV serial called crossroads – the Quality Hotel resembles that minus the swimming pool. In short a 1980’s / 90’s modular functional building.

Reception & Public areas – Pleasant reception with bar & restaurant leading off – the lounge is nice with a high-pitched tent like roof. A large Plasma TV is constantly on with no sound – a bit superfluous. Internet access (I think you had to pay) on the side in the lounge, free Metro newspapers.

The Bedrooms – For my £130+ for a single what did I get – not a lot. The rooms lead off the pubic area with ground & first floor availability. Corridors in need of decoration. The room was very clean – however no matter how clean it did not mask the fact that my room was in dire need of some live cycle decoration – the walls were marked, skirting boards needed painting, the net curtain ( remember them) had holes in , the old small TV was placed above the dressing table so one had to sit on the edge of bed to watch. One, yes one, tiny sheet of notepaper & a pencil , no trouser press , no comfy chair, kettle not emptied from previous guest. Room was very small – but I say again it was clean & the bed was OK for its age. But I would say I did expect better for the price. There are only two hotels at the airport ( the other is a Hilton) so they do have a take it or leave it hold over you.

The bathroom – Again very clean – but the shower water pipe was rusted, the loo seat was broken on one side & the extractor fan very noisy. No shower cubical door just a curtain . I did feel sorry for house keeping who clearly tried their best against a backdrop of little or no investment.

Oh in the bathroom look out for a large sheet of glossy paper saying ‘ Don’t drink the water – drink some wine’ – this as a rather odd voucher to exchange in the dining room for a glass of house wine. Classy or what?

Food –. ate in restaurant for dinner & breakfast. I have say the food was fine, service good & whilst the free house wine of questionable quality the thought was there.

Staff – All very friendly – really good customer care – I would say they deserved better from the operator who has an excellent team in a very tired hotel. .

Over all – for one night it is fine – for two nights go into town you can do much better.

Tip – Ask for a room at the back & look out for the free wine voucher in the bathroom .

I needed a nice, clean and close to the Edinburgh Airport facility, and that's why I booked at this hotel. I thought my stay was going to be an average one, but to my surprise, the service provided by the hotel staff was just increadible!!!! I had a few issues with my luggage, and they were absolutely very helpful.
My entire stay, short but very enjoyable, was great. I had the change to enjoy a really nice meal, and although I'm a bit picky, they offered me alternatives to the menu. I will definitely stay again in this hotel, absolutely worth every penny!!
I hope you enjoy it too!!

Great stay. Painless way to book through the hotels website and very reasonable rates. Met by very friendly staff at check-in and room was very clean and comfortable. We stayed for 2 nights as we were going to the theatre and decided to make it a short break. The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful and we dined in the lounge on one evening and the restaurant the other. Both highly recommended. Will definitely stay again when we frequent the theatre as the hotel also arranges taxis at a reasonable rate to travel into the city. Well done to all the staff who made our stay so pleasant.
