Jusr off the beaten track means this is not so busy as it's partner which is a shame as it is wonderful. Lovely clean, open and airy, you can spend hours wandering around here. Worth a visit.
We went to see the Peploe exhibition which was very good, well presented and interesting. I loved the shop too, and also the tiles in the Toilets are really woth having a look at !
The exhibition at time of writing is devoted to the works of S. J. Peploe and doesn't disappoint. Well curated, with excellent information notes (I'd forgotten my reading glasses and so used the large print books available in each room), this exhibition really revealed Peploe's style and techniques as they changed over his lifetime.
The Gallery itself is set in beautiful tranquil grounds not too far from the city centre.
There is an excellent cafe serving good food at a reasonable prices.
I was disappointed to note that the gigantic ceiling-high work of Vulcan by Paolozzi is now surrounded by tables, as an extension of the cafe - I feel this is an insult to the piece and demeans it.
Really cool gallery to see some pretty interesting modern art. Even the bathrooms are interesting haha
Brilliantly curated exhibition with wonderful information (thank heavens for the large print books as the labels are verysmall!). Well staged and lit and beautifully laid out. A highlight of our tour.
