Stayed at the Radisson for 1 night on the 17th Nov 06. We had arrives at Edinburgh airport from Leeds/Bradford at 0800 and caught the bus right outside the arrivals hall which takes you to Waverley station £3.00 per adult fantastic value. Also you have the added advantage of bus lanes so the journey time was very quick in spite of it being rush hour. Arrived at the hotel 5 mins walk from station at quarter to 9 ? One of our 3 rooms was ready and they checked in and dropped their luggage off. The other 2 rooms would be ready for 2pm which was fine they stored the luggage. we had a fun filled day ,shopping (urghhh) got the service bus to Royal Yacht Brittannia and managed a couple of beers. Got back to hotel at 4pm luggage brought upto room. Beautiful room huge double bed sitting area and fab bathroom. Rooms may be a bit dark but ours had 2 windows and you can always use the main lights if you should need them. The exterior of the hotel is ace it looks like a medieval castle but once inside it is ultra moderm and gives the air of newness and clean. The bar area is lovely, friendly staff and quite a good atmosphere.
The breakfast restaurant is located downstairs and that was a grand affair ! A huge buffet awaited us with a vast array of choice. Staff were attentive and were always on hand should you require anything. The buffet was replenished as soon as something was running low. For the money the hotel is in an excellent position and make sure your rate includes breakfast(this is the UK Not the States) Well recommended

Just spent a weekend at the Radisson and like the other reviews, the best thing about it is its location. We arrived in Edinburgh by train at Waverley station and the hotel is just a short walk away which was very convenient.

Its staff however could do with more training on customer service - when we arrived to check in, we went up to one of the desks and the young girl there just looked at us without any greeting whatsoever. Not a welcoming start.

The room itself was fine but a little dark and there was plenty of storage space for your belongings. The bathroom was lovely and modern, very clean. We ordered breakfast to be delivered to our room and I wouldn't recommend it as it's quite expensive for what you get, and it didn't actually taste that great. They also forgot to bring any cutlery or condiments with it. If you turn right out of the hotel and go down the Royal Mile, there are quite a few little cafes that would serve better value breakfasts.

The spa/health club facilities were disappointing - the gym was tiny with 3 treadmills, and a couple of other cardio machines and the weights were in a separate room. There was no AC but a fan was provided which you could manually switch on. The pool was lovely and warm but small. And the saunas were not mixed so my partner and I had to go separately.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights at the end of October..room was lovely, though dare I say it a bit dark..bed really comfortable...excellent maid service. We were upgraded to business class as we had an unfortunate experience at the radisson in stansted in the summer...this was appreciated as we got the additional bath robes, slippers coffee machine and upgraded toiletries!
Hotel situated on the royal mile which is an ideal base to explore edinburgh. Just a few minutes walk to the buses which take you to and from the airport,3.00 each way... princes street as well as the castle.
Again even though this is a four star hotel...16.50 each for breakfast?? How do they justify that for sausage bacon and a couple of eggs!? Go to one of the many pubs/cafes nearby or down to princes street. As for eating out in the evening, the Mitre is cheap and cheerful or there is a mexican a few minutes down the road which is worth a visit and something a bit different! I know you are in scotland but there is only so much haggis you can eat!!

Also try the ghost tour ghosts and ghouls run by Mercat...excellent guides and plenty of history...we were there for halloween which was great. Avoid city of the dead tour..the guide spent the whole hour and a half asking if we were "scared yet" and talking to a few people in the crowd that had had experiences!!? ridiculous and to be honest embarassing!
Back to the hotel I would say it is geared towards business travellers with expense accounts..overall though cant complain and would stay there again...

The location of the Radisson, right on the Royal Mile, can’t be beat. The rooms (we stayed here on two separate occasions during our 2 week trip) were very comfortable, good-sized, and clean, with a sleek modern décor. The first room overlooked the Royal Mile, and had an “extra window” that totally blocked any noise—wonderful! We got a special rate for the second stay that was in a slightly smaller room and included breakfast (and was cheaper than the first stay that did NOT include breakfast). The breakfast is not worth it if you have to pay for it—it was just OK and very expensive a la carte, and there are a number of nice cafes very close by (including a Starbucks with a second-floor seating area with lots of windows overlooking the Royal Mile). An excellent choice!

The pros are that the hotel is in a good location, the rooms are clean and fair in size and decor. The down size is the the staff was not very friendly. There was no help (or offer of) with luggage and when we inquired about places to eat they would only reccommend their restaurant- and we didn't even care for the breakfast there. There are good pubs across the street though. All in all, it wasn't bad- not great but average.
