We chose this hotel based on tripadvisor reviews and we knew the location of this hotel as we had previously stayed here 13 years ago when it was the Scandic crown. I also wanted a family room so contacted the hotel directly and was able to get a rate of £115 per night excluding breakfast. I usually like a bed and breakfast rate in any hotel that I stay in but decided not to opt for this, though it was available, as reviews indicated there were plenty of places to eat nearby at a much better price.

From the airport we took the Airbus 100 which was half the price of a taxi and only took 25 minutes to get to Waverley bridge. From there it was only a five minute walk to the hotel on the Royal Mile. This walk was uphill but was not difficult because of the wonderful invention of wheels on suitcases!

Reception was very efficent and got into our room early ,which we hadn't expected, so was able to get into Edinburgh for the afternoon.
The room itself was large with a king sized bed and two singles and still felt very spacious. It was very clean and hadn't any marks on the walls and furniture. Decor is minimalist but I quite like this as it helps to keep it looking uncluttered. The bathroom was also very clean and fresh looking.
The only small criticism was there isn't a set of drawers in the room but only a couple of shelves within the wardrobe and as we had two suitcases to unpack we initially thought there would not be enough room- but there was!

There are plenty of restaurants nearby catering for most tastes. It only takes 5 minutes to get to Princes Street and we went to the restaurant in John Lewis for our breakfast each morning, which was about a third of the price of what our breakfast would have cost had we eaten in the hotel.

Leisure facilities were clean and adequate with a small pool ,sauna and a gym. The pool was warm and the kids loved it though overall the facilities are in need of a revamp.

Overall our experience at this hotel was fantastic . It is superbly located being on the Royal Mile close to all the major attractions in the Old Town but being 5 minutes away from the major shops in the New Town. I don't know what other people do but I always like to look at other hotels in a city and try to make a judgement on whether any hotels have a better location than my choice .Certainly the Radisson could not be bettered in my opinion. The rooms were excellent for the price and will have no hesitation in booking this hotel again .

Great hotel. Rooms and beds were fantastic and very clean. The hotel was very smart and in a great location on the Royal Mile. Only downside was the food. Terrible for the calibre of the hotel. Would recommend eating in town.

This hotel has a wonderful location in the middle of the old town and within easy walking distance of the station and the new town. We stayed there at the beginning and the end of our trip. The first time we paid only GBP85, since my husband qualfied for the senior rate. The second time was on a weekend, when the rate didn't apply, but we felt the GBP115 rate was still reasonable. These rates did not include breakfast, but there is a Starbucks only a few doors away, which we preferred in any case. Our first room was located above a bar with all night live music, but the double window made the room very quiet. The reception staff were very helpful; we did not eat in the hotel, since there are so many restaurants around.

When I called to bok direct with the hotel, the reservation staff asked if our stay was for any special occasion - and I expalined that our overnight in Edinburgh was to be part of a birthday trip to the area for my partner.

On arrival our room had been upgraded and we discovered a good bottle of wine, a dinky box of chocs and a birthday card with a hand written note from the manger. (thank you Fi, nice touch) A lovely surprise and it got our trip off to a great start.

We didnt use the diing facilities as Edinburgh has so much to offer, but we had good service from reception, the concierge was very helpful and the location fabulous.

The room was larger than average, bed very comforatble, bathroom top notch and overall we couldnt have asked for more.

The 'mats' on the bed are a bit wierd, but hey, who can tell what goes on in the mind of an interior designer!

The great location, positive upbeat service and thoguhtful touches will make the Radisson SAS our first port of call next time we visit.
Just book it!

We were delighted with the location, about mid-way on the Royal Mile. The room was large, clean, and very quiet. Those were the things we were interested in, so we were quite pleased.
The prices at the restaurant kept us from trying them, and we did not rely on the staff for advice or help on what to do or see since the feel was that it was more of a business hotel than one for tourists.
