My daughter and I stayed at the Radisson SAS April 23-26 on our first trip to Edinburgh. It's in a great location, and the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. The people at reception and guest services were friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean, had two twin beds, and was non-smoking as requested. We had a lovely view of Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags. Our room had all of the amenities you would expect to find in a good hotel, including in-room safe, mini-bar, and a generous selection of toiletries. Great shower, too, with excellent water pressure. We always enjoy having covered duvets in UK hotel rooms, and ours were crisp and comfortable. My daughter enjoyed a swim in the small heated pool, which looked very clean.
I was ready to book an internet only rate through [--], but it had some restrictions: I couldn't select a non-smoking room or bed type, needed to prepay, and there was a cancellation penalty. By booking through [--] and using my AAA discount, I was able to get the same rate without any restrictions. The rate was £108 per night, including all taxes.
The hotel offered a full breakfast for around £15 per person, which I think is high even without the horrible USD to GBP exchange rate. Use of the internet was also expensive (if you don't have your own laptop, that is) - £3.75 for 15 minutes, unless I completely misunderstood the Scottish accent of the charming gentleman at guest services. We went to Southern Café on Cockburn Street where it cost £1 for 30 minutes.
We plan to return to Edinburgh, and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else but at the Radisson SAS.
