Excellent location on the Royal Mile, halfway between Holyrood House and the Castle. Easy walk to Princes Street, New Town etc. Surrounded by plently of pubs and restaurants.
Hotel itself obviously recently refurbished. The communal areas are a little sterile and soulless, but very cleam and modern. Room was large, nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. Bathroom fine, plently of storage space in the wardrobes etc.
Did not use the restaurant, but looks a bit too trendy for its own good, serving "amuse bouche" type menu.
Highly recommended for comfortable business or leisure stay.

My daughter and I stayed at the Radisson SAS April 23-26 on our first trip to Edinburgh. It's in a great location, and the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. The people at reception and guest services were friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean, had two twin beds, and was non-smoking as requested. We had a lovely view of Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags. Our room had all of the amenities you would expect to find in a good hotel, including in-room safe, mini-bar, and a generous selection of toiletries. Great shower, too, with excellent water pressure. We always enjoy having covered duvets in UK hotel rooms, and ours were crisp and comfortable. My daughter enjoyed a swim in the small heated pool, which looked very clean.

I was ready to book an internet only rate through [--], but it had some restrictions: I couldn't select a non-smoking room or bed type, needed to prepay, and there was a cancellation penalty. By booking through [--] and using my AAA discount, I was able to get the same rate without any restrictions. The rate was £108 per night, including all taxes.

The hotel offered a full breakfast for around £15 per person, which I think is high even without the horrible USD to GBP exchange rate. Use of the internet was also expensive (if you don't have your own laptop, that is) - £3.75 for 15 minutes, unless I completely misunderstood the Scottish accent of the charming gentleman at guest services. We went to Southern Café on Cockburn Street where it cost £1 for 30 minutes.

We plan to return to Edinburgh, and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else but at the Radisson SAS.

The Radisson is a very well designed modern hotel in an old building in central Edinburgh. As many of the other reviews point out, its location is one of its assets. It's right on the Royal Mile, which means that if you're sightseeing, you couldn't be better placed. It's also surrounded by cafes, restaurants and other eateries, cheap and expensive, so there's no need to eat in at any time of day.

The rooms are very well appointed. I got here at lunchtime to find a very pleasant clean room, warm, comfortable, and quite spacious given that I'm here on my own.

I was quite pleased that, when I arrived, the British Airways crew who had manned the plane I flew in on were checking in at the same time: a sure sign that the hotel is up to scratch.

The bathroom is fine, a little on the small side perhaps, but perfectly ok for a quick bath or shower.

Some of the other reviews say that the staff are a little distant - and so they are. But my guess is that this is an Edinburgh thing, and I doubt whether it's likely to change. And, frankly, given how much contact you're likely to have with the staff, I'm not sure it matters.

This is a good hotel for anyone visiting Edinburgh on business - a comfortable, quiet, central base from which to work.

My girlfriend and I loved the feel of this hotel. It was a modern hotel but it was blended in to not standout in the city of Edinburgh. The room was big, as was the bed. We stayed here 3 nights and we would stay again. Great location on the Royal Mile: very close to shops, restaurants and tourist destinations. It was also a 5 minute walk to Waverly Train Station. Stay here over anywhere else!

This hotel is in an ideal location to explore the wonders of Edinburgh - situated on the Royal Mile. The rooms are stylish and very comfortable. The rooms are excellently furnished with a great bathroom. The extra touch of having free Broadband access was a great discovery (they will also supply the CAT 5 cabling required)- the concierge even gave us a token to have 24 hour free WiFi broadband access.

My only concern is that some of the reception staff perhaps need to refresh their customer care skills. They were not rude or agressive, however the ones we met appeared to be disinterested and a little aloof.

This would not, however, put us off from staying at this very nice hotel again in the future.

For a great Italian meal at reasonable prices, try the little Italian restaurant in the Grassmarket area if only for the cute waiters!
