Just back from the Fringe and had a great stay at the Radisson. We were on the 1st floor overlooking Niddry Street which was pretty noisy all day with traffic and a couple of bars. But the triple glazing was amazing, and completely cut out the noise! Brilliant.

Just a standard suite, but the room was spacious as was the bathroom. The shower was very powerful and the bath pretty deep. However the rooms are quite dark, and the furniture choices are a bit weird: there aren't any drawers to store your clothes and the bedside cabinets were just square boxes.

Check-in and out was very slick, and the lounging area at the back of the reception was perfect for pouring over Festival blurb to work out what to go and see. Overall very central and very quiet.

We were delighted with our stay at the Raddison. We had two rooms and because they didn't have two regular non-smoking we decided to upgrade. I have to say the Raddison upgrade was well worth the extra money. Not only did we have in room breakfast for two (which had so much food that we shared with the kids) but there also was a gourmet espresso coffee maker with a wonderful selection of flavored espresso, free seltzer and still water (big bottles!) gourmet chocolate, free in room movies (no $15 each charge!) and a lovely flat screen tv. Our room overlooked the main street and was centrally located within walking distance to many nice restaurants, right across the street from an ATM and equidistant from Holyroodhouse and the Castle. The people were nice, there was free internet in the lobby. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel.

We couldn't have been more thrilled with the location of the Radisson in Edinburgh located on the Royal Mile halfway between Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood. It is a modern building which was designed to incorporate traditional design elements. We stayed on the 5th floor and enjoyed the beautiful view of the Royal Mile and our room was comfortable. The hotel is on a busy street and you are across from two lively pubs which have music nightly so it helped that we were up higher to cut down on the noise and also that the hotel had installed a double set of windows which made the room very quiet at night. We did need to open the windows during the day for ventilation and cool the room off and kept them closed while we were sleeping. No AC.

I would have given this hotel a Five Star review except for the dungeon of a "Leisure" center where a small, chilly, unattractive pool sits with an above deck, token jacuzzi, which was out of order when we were there, and a dismal locker room sauna. After staying at the Galway Radisson which has an amazing warm pool, coed sauna and steam room and three whirlpools, one of which is outside, this was an enormous letdown. Also, the entire "Leisure" area was closed the day we checked in and we were not told. The pool was one of our deciding factors for booking the Radisson and it is mentioned as one of their amenities. I did swim in the pool and it was so misable cold I took a sauna. Since the pool is listed in their amenities, one would expect more. They'd be better off filling the pool in and installing an air conditioner for the rooms, I met another guest who said she had tried to book a spa treatment at the hotel for the past three days and was told they had no openings. She gave the hotel only a mediocre review as her room didn't have double windows like mine and was facing a noisy construction area.

Have stayed at radisson galway which has a superb swimming pool,2 jacuzzis, one outside, coed steam room and sauna. The edinburgh has a pathetic chilly not heated swimming pool, that was about 25 feet long. The jacuzzi was broken and did not work! The saunas were not coed so you could not enjoy it with your loved one,(unless you are gay). They forgot to tell us the day we arrived that the whole spa was closed for some unknown reason. The internet went out the next day, right when we needed it for business,so we had to walk around town looking for access.
The bed was comfy, everything was clean, staff helpful. we had a top floor overlooking the royal mile so we could view the action.the windows were doubled so it was quiet. There is a modern bar and restaurant on premises.Location is the best thing going for hotel.
