“Good hotel. great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

The hotel is right on royal mile very close to the Waverley station as well. The area has a lot of eateries and bars so a lot of options to avoid the overprices hotel menu. The staff were really friendly and very helpful. The hotel is one of the prettiest buildings on the mile as well.

Dear TrippieDvisor,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on the hotel. It's pleasing to hear that you found all the team very helpful and friendly, it's something we take great pride in.

I'm sorry that you found our menu overpriced, we are certainly on a par with the majority of the offerings on the Royal Mile. Having said that you are right, with our fantastic central location there are many options for dining and indeed to sample a traditional Scottish eveing in a local bar.

Thanks again,

Harold Annand

The hotel is on the Royal Mile and therefore brilliantly located for all that Edinburgh has to offer. The room we had was upgraded to Business Class although we were struggling to see what we got that was extra but it was comfortable with good views out to Arthur's Seat and beyond. Over our 3 night stay we ate out each evening and only had one breakfast in the hotel which whilst okay was probably not worth the money when you can get perfectly good breakfasts nearby for less. Whilst the room was perfectly clean and presentable the corridors had definitely seen better days and were desperately in need of updating/refurbishment. Quite expensive for what it was but I guess you are paying for the location as much as anything.

Dear BigMac58,

Thank you for your review and I'm glad you seem to have enjoyed your trip to Edinburgh. You are right in saying that our location is just about perfect for enjoying the numerous attractions we have in the city.

I'm sorry if you felt the breakfast was not quite worth the money paid. If staying on a room only rate we do offer a great discount at check in if you wish to add breakfast, which we feel offers fantastic value.

Thanks again and hopefully we will get a chance to welcome you back to the hotel sometime.

Regards
Harold Annand

The location is great, the staff were friendly, the room was nice and spacious with a good bathroom - exactly what you would expect from a 4 star. Breakfast was £12, so I had high expectations. But god was it bad. Tasted like they had bought the cheapest croissants they could find, I took one bite and had to stop. I then went to get some cucumber but it looked - and tasted - like it had been sitting there overnight or even for the last week, it literally made me heave. If you stay here I would not recommend having breakfast, there are plenty of cafés nearby which I'm sure would have edible food and would be cheaper. The coffee was ok though.

Dear Alvaro96,

It is great to hear you had a enjoyable stay on the whole. However it goes without saying that I'm disappointed your breakfast experience did not match the rest of your stay.

I would love the opportunity to talk to you regarding your experience. In general we get good reviews about our breakfast. Therefore it would be good to hear everything regarding your experience so we can ensure we continue to improve the service we offer.

My email address is harold.annand@radissonblu.com. I look forward to speaking with you.

Regards
Harold Annand

Location wise this is a great hotel. Staff were very friendly. We had requested an early check in as we arrived in Edinburgh quiet early in the morning. This was not a problem. Even though the hotel was very busy they had our room key ready for us at reception when we arrived at about 10am. Nothing was a problem for the staff. The bar was a little bit pricey but we found that all in all Edinburgh itself was very pricey. A friend had travelled from London and found prices everywhere more expensive than there.
Breakfast in the hotel was fantastic with a large selection of delicious food.....

Excellent location on the Royal Mile and not far from the train station. Tthe bed was good. The room failry large. Breakfast very expensive as in all the Radissons but we were a little suprised at how they seem to be cheapening out. There was only one small bar of soap that you had transfer between shower and sink, only one glass and no clock of any kind. Surprising.

Just back from a family weekend in Edinburgh to see some rugby. We were a party of eight, ranging in age from 6 to 50 and we all had a lovely time. Even though its right in the thick of things, we weren't troubled by noise and it was great not to have far to go after dinner! Staff are very helpful, hotel is spotless and everything you could want in a city centre hotel. We arrived early, but were checked in with a minimum of fuss. Recommended.

stayed here for 2 nights and it is in the perfect location and hotel!

we took the bus from the airport and it stopped right outside the hotel! all the shops and restaurants our right outside therefore chose to eat breakfast elsewhere at a fraction of the cost.

everything is in walking distant, princess street/bus stops/ castle/tours.

we also had a massage and that was really good!

there was only one thing i did not like about the hotel which is a minor detail and that was the pillow felt like it was a pillow or air as soon as you put your head in the middle the sides would inflate it was really uncomfortable!

i would definitely go back!
