My fiance and I booked a short break in between Christmas and New Year. After looking at quite a few Edinburgh hotels we decided on the Radisson as it's very central to all the attractions and everything was in walking distance. The pub opposite is great and very friendly. We didn't eat in the hotel as we felt £15.95 per person for breakfast was a bit steep, but there are plenty of cafes and places to have breakfast on the Royel Mile without going too far. We did have a few drinks in the bar which is very nice. Part of the bar area is in one of the old closes. The room we had was quite small, but comfortable and had a nice view out to the sea. Another deciding factor on this hotel was that it had spa facilities. Don't be mislead by this. The pool is a square, so you can't swim and I've been in bigger baths! There is no steam room or jaccuzzi, which you would expect, but it does have saunas - one in each of the changing rooms, so you can't even sit together. The decor has dropped right out of the 70's and desperately needs updating, so if you are looking for a hotel with swimming pool etc and somewhere to relax if the weathers not so good, don't choose this hotel. If however you want somewhere very central with plenty of restuarants to choose from then this is the hotel. Plus there is a taxi rank right outside so very handy when you have to get back to the airport. We would stay here again though as we had a fantastic break.
