“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW

Overall this is a great budget hotel situated in the old part of the city. A 6-7 min walk to Princes Street. The rooms were clean and fresh and were comfortable for us as a family of 4 with a 10 and 7 year old. The breakfast was very good with a wide selection available but the evening meals left a lot to be desired! Very small portions and very basic so we ate elsewhere for the rest of our stay.

Very cheap, clean, good location and friendly staff - can't really fault it. Obviously its a Travelodge so its not going to blow your mind but if your planning on going to Edinburgh and need somewhere central to stay that's clean, modern and reasonably priced you can't go wrong with here. I'll certainly be back and would recommend to anyone. Only potential drawback I could see is that it may be quite noisey at the weekends but for about £30 a night I can live with that.

The location is superb! Ideal for access to all of Edinburgh's attractions. The hotel was clean & comfortable for our family of 4 and was ideally positioned to allow us to pop back for a rest. Magic!!

We have stayed here four times now mainly for the very reasonable rates and excellent location - right next to Royal Mile, with numerous bars and restaurants in immediate vicinity. Also a pleasant walk to the new town and Princess St.
Rooms were decorated and refurbished last year, I believe, and are still clean and tidy.
Staff on reception were helpful and friendly and let us check in early without question.
Rooms are small and basic, but cannot be beaten for price.
Breakfast is available at a small charge £7, and was all you could need - hot and cold buffet.
Didn't use bar or evening menu, purely as there is so many others to choose from.
For us, can't be beaten for location and price

Clean, easily accessed hotel and does all that is needed for an overnight stay pretty well. Fairly close to main railway although not advertised as a feature. Can suffer road noise on one side of the hotel. Been before and plan to use again.

We booked through travel agent in July for Xmas stay with tickets to see wicked . We arrived early which was my fault ,at just about 1.45 instead of 3 . They did not have our booking ,I even thought we had the wrong hotel. The girl made us feel nervous that there was no booking even though we had all paper work ,we were told to leave as we were to early anyway ,and come back after 3 .they did keep ours things . on returning at 330 just to make sure ,they did have a room .room 113. Well ,they had made a mistake again .no sofa bed for our 26 year old daughter . You can book for 4 adults in these rooms with sofa beds, but we had no sofa bed ,just a pull out ,small thing ,from the base of bed not even suitable for a small child!!!!!!!!.never mind 2adults .Complained to reception and they said there were no sofa beds in hotel any more just these pull out things .on hearing this I asked for my money to be refunded and we would just go to show. The gentleman was very nice and we were offered since they weren't busy an adjacent room for my daughter . All good . We checked both rooms .a bit stale smelling and our room 113had lager cans in window frame .but we thought it was a good package what the hell . The package included 2 coarse meal, well, the waitress was lovely but the meal was mmmmmmm! Bad ,from asda to microwave but edible ,just .show was amazing .when we got back the bar was full of young lads and girls having very loud conversations and plenty of booze .decided to leave then and there . can't comment on breakfast never stayed . Would definitely not book again and should not be approved for any kind of break .not a family hotel

Room Tip: If there are more than 2 don't take room with so called sofa bed .get 2 rooms and not at front a...

Have stayed here many times before, overall another good experience booking in real easy trouble free, room very comfy an excellent base to locate yourself from close to all eating or shopping places. Only down side was evening meal tasteless and after being asked by chef why so much left on plate our complaint was ignored and no-one came near us after complaint so very very poor customer service. Had we paid more for the meal we would have asked for refund but as the other meal was hood we decided to see what the staff would do so we found out that they done nothing about it. We will e-mail travel lodge direct about that. That said do not let that put you off staying here as as said it is an excellent place to base yourself from.
