I booked this hotel because this was the cheapest option among all hotels (e.g. Ibis, SAS, etc.) located in Edinburgh city centre. The location was really convenient, considering that a 1-min walk would take you to the Royal Mile and 10-min walk would take you to Waverley rail station. A big advantage of the hotel.
The facilities in room were basic, but clean and neat. The double room I stayed was equipped with a LCD TV with good connections to all channels, so it was good. They provided a soap but not shower gel, shampoo, etc. Since they mentioned it on their website I don't think this was a problem (I used my own anyway). The strange thing was that the bathroom's door was pulled outside (instead of pushing towards the bathroom). What it meant was that everything I went to the bathroom I had to walk to the main door, open the bathroom door and then get in. It's a stupid design and I didn't have a clue who could accept this.
Food in the hotel was terrible. I had dinner and breakfast in their cafe during my stay. Choices of main courses in dinner were limited, and they tasted much worse than those ready-to-cook food from supermarkets. Breakfast also had very limited choices, e.g. bacon, sausages, scramble eggs, etc. Not worth GBP7.5. Better to avoid. You have plenty of options for breakfast paying this price.
