Stayed over here for one night with 2 work colleagues for a course in Edinburgh. The location was ideal, 5 mins from waverly train station. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful. We had a room on the first floor with a double bed and 2 singles that was perfect for us, the bathroom was clean and shower was of a good pressure. The lighting in the room was terrible and it was really warm! unfortunately we couldn't sleep with the windows open because it was so noisy outside. None of us slept that well at all!

Breakfast was not included in our £99 deal that we booked on-line this was an extra £6 or £7. It was ok, a choice of cereals, fruit and cooked items. We came down at a busy period so had to wait on a table a few minutes. The apple juice was horribly sweet and the black pudding was bland. It reminded me a bit in school dinners, you pay before you eat and everyone stands waiting in a q with their trays, a young girl then puts food on your plate! I prefer to help myself to be honest.

Overall it did the job for a buisness trip, i wouldn't choose to stay here with my husband or my children.

During our extended weekend visit (sightseeing & going out) to Edinburgh we spent 3 nights at Jurys. Location is perfect with everything at a walking distance. Rooms are not very modern, but have good beds. If you have a room in the front and like to have your window open during the night, you will hear some noise of the cars in the street. Staff is committed and working hard. Enjoyed their breakfast. Great value for money. Recommended!

Spent a weekend in Edinburgh last week with the girls...it was a hen party so we were looking for good value, central location and Jury's came up trumps.

Check in was efficient, rooms were clean and basic. There was a double and single bed in each room, plenty of towels and tea/coffee making facility.

Initially we booked the rooms directly with the hotel at 139 pounds per room per night. But the week before we travelled we found out that they had the rooms for 89 pounds on their website. So we got the cheaper price...

The hotel is a few minutes walk from Waverly bridge (where the airlink bus dropped us) and from Prince's St. Also very close to the Royal Mile. We didn't eat at the hotel as the food didn't look too good. And despite the dear prices in their bar we spent some time in it. However, do not drink the vodka in the hotel bar as it is completely watered down!! When we complained to the barman, he topped up the glass, but then admitted that it "might be watered down".

Despite the bad weather, we managed to have a great time in Edinburgh. It's a great city and Jury's was fine for our stay!

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. I am happy to see that you enjoyed your stay with us. I am shocked that you would think that we would 'water down' drinks and can ensure you that this would never happen. We follow the letter of the law in all aspects of running our hotel. Good location, over looking Edinburgh train station, but can not hear it. Reception was fine, room very tired, the hotel put the heating only at certain times not 24 hours a day. Breakfast service was very slow the breakfast was mostly over cooked.

I stayed here for one Saturday night in June on my way South. The hotel was booked as a last minute deal and at ~£70 room only it represented pretty good value (the Premier Inn down the road came in at £85 and the Travelodge at £70).

The location of the hotel was idea for sightseeing and for transport links (it overlooks the train station). The view from my room was actually fantastic!

The hotel was let down mainly by its staff. On arrival I spent 10 minutes waiting to be checked in. I recieved no apology for this wait. The staff member then couldn't find my reservation, despite my phoning 12 hours earlier to confirm it. On checkout the staff were quite simply rude. No greeting/goodbye and I literally had to stand saying "excuse me" for at least 5 minutes before the staff member acknowledged my presence.

The room was a decent size for a city hotel and slept a maximum of 3. The bathroom could have done with a thorough clean and ideally a complete refit (the suite was very worn and a bit grubby.. paint was a very strange colour). Only the obligatory squeezy soap was provided in the bathroom but this was to be expected from a budget hotel.

I had asked for a quiet room but found myself in a room that backed onto the elevator shaft. This wasn't ideal but was bearable. A less exhausted light sleeper might have suffered!

The room really suffered as a result of not having air conditioning. Additionally, the windows only opened a tiny bit. This meant my companion and I spent a large part of the night trying to keep cool. Given that the night was relatively cool for June I'd dread to think what the room would have been like in midsummer!

Breakfast was pretty decent and at £7.50 a head not too extortionate (in contrast to a diet coke from the bar which came in at £4...). However, the staff seemed more concerned with packing away the buffet rather than ensuring all customers had actually eaten. One member of staff at breakfast was particularly rude in that she completely blanked us... repeatedly.

All in all, at this price I would stay again but for the full nightly rate (advertised on the night I stayed at £189) I would be giving this hotel a wide bearth!
